Is it wrong to try to ignore problems in your life, when there is really nothing that you can do about them?

Aye, ah mean, if yer problems are really gettin' tae ye. On the other hand if ye find a way o' puttin' thing tae the back o' yer mind, by which ah mean no' focusin' on the bad n' focus on the good - then it's no' wrong. If that makes sense? Hope naebody gets the wrong idea o' what am sayin' there?

Ah don't mean ignore problems n' they magicially go away. If yer problems are at a point where they're overwhelmin' ya, or affect ye quite severely then get help.

I am the Queen of Ignoring Problems. I'm so good at it, I might as well win the Pulitzer price for "Ignoring". I don't confront obstacles (be they people, animals, or objects) head on; rather, I usually run away or, if I have no choice but be stuck in that situation, I would pretend everything is fine and dandy and ignore almost everything around me. Bullies could be yelling at me, throwing things at my window, kicking my door, banging, etc and I would be sitting there pretending that everything is going OK - which has happened before. I don't fight back and avoid arguments with strangers, if I can.

I feel like the ultimate ***** and it feels wrong to always be ignoring things, but I just didn't have the courage to confront my problems. But, even if I do find the courage to face the obstacles, I still wouldn't know what to do.

The most important thing in life is to choose your battles. You have to know when you are not ready to win yet.

That's exactly how I feel.

That's true, I guess sometimes I just don't know how to fix a problem so I get frustrated and feel overwhelmed so I just try to put it out of my mind and act like it doesn't bother me. That probably is a stupid thing to do

I think it depends on the problem... I think the only ones you can't do anything about and should therefore not dwell on are ones like being too poor to afford what you need but working a job that will give you good opportunities to get out and budgeting what you have. There's usually something you can do, but there's a lot to be said for picking and choosing what to worry about at any given time. Too much and you'll just overwhelm yourself and become less efficient at solving problems.

Problem: pen has run out of ink.
Safe to ignore? Probably.

Problem: house is on fire.
Safe to ignore? Hell no!
