Does anyone else get hideously embarrassed while watching tv?

For a character in an embarrassing situation I mean. Or am I uniquely retarded that way? I often have to change the channel because I just can't stand the feeling.

It doesn't have to be a character on tv, it could even just be another person in the room and I'll blush because they are in an embarrassing situation. But most times it's the tv.

Sometimes I hate my brain. ::(:

Good, at least one other person in the world! Hahah. ::p:

I was just doing it watching "Evan Almighty" this evening. It's not even an especially intelligent or engrossing movie, either! Arg!

YES!!! It's really weird!! If I'm watching a movie on TV where I know something embarrassing happens to one of the characters, I will usually change channels until I think that part is over. I can't seem to seperate real embarrassment from acting!! It's very odd!

Why do people think this is?

Ah yes, I am also gifted with the burden of sharing in everyone else's embarrassment...As if my own wasn't enough!

If an episode containing an embarrassing moment is a repeat, I will often find myself thinking, "oh, maybe it wont happen this time! Please don't let it happen!" And when it inevitably does, I cringe and change the channel.

I get embarrassed for characters in movies and t.v. all of the time. I cover my ears, put the t.v. on mute, change the channel, or leave the room until the scene is over. I just can't handle it; it's almost as if I am the one in the embarrassing situation. I'm happy that my sister also does it so I'm not the crazy one in the house.

i get the same feeling. Sometimes i force myself to watch it even though i feel
embarrassed for the person but most of the time i just change channels.

I do this too, and I can't stand watching people give interviews for the same reason, especially when the interviewee is obviously blowing hot air and everyone knows it.

I do the same thing, If its a show or movie I have already seen then I change the channel or fast forward past it if its a dvd. I also do it during interviews especially when you can see that the person being interviewed just feels so uncomfortable, I kind of feel the same as them.

Yes this happens. I really hate embarrassing situations in TV and usually turn to other channel and after some minutes turn back when situation is over. I hate embarrassing situations in TV and real life.

hahahah! the same thing used to happen to me all the time. I'd just switch the channel or cover my eyes.. it would kill me:p

That's so funny b/c I used to either turn away from the TV or change the channel when that happens!! I think that's related to how sensitive we are.

Only if it's a REALITY tv show..if I know a character is about to be in an awkward situation and/or be embarrassed I'll often change the channel until it happens then I'll go back..if I don't switch channels I'll often try to block out the sound by turning my head and LA LA LA-ing loudly.

Not self explanatory?

Well, like when I was watching 'Evan Almighty' and the titular character attempted to address congress and suddenly found himself wearing a biblical robe with his hair and huge beard all shagged out. Looking ridiculous whilst attempted to be dignified in a serious situation is something I would find embarrassing.

Yes, but I also have the problem at laughing at my own embarrassment. So I want to change the channel, but I'm laughing so hard at my own embarrassment that I enjoy it. It's hard when I watch things with other people, fearing that I'm going to start blushing. :blushing:

That's very normal!! The writers KNOW what they're doing. Sometimes a character can be so embarrassing and unaware that I have to look away.......It has absolutely nothing to do with SA or anything other illness.
