I know this is probably not helpful, but I can't dance, either. I took dance (ballet, tap, and jazz) for 4 years as a kid, but apparently none of it stuck. When I go out with my friends, I pretty much just sway--unless I'm really intoxicated...
I even realized that, in high school, I could not comfortably dance with guys I actually liked. One guy I dated did dance with me (and tried to teach me to dance/loosen up).

To dance, you must open up not only your ears, but your mind to the rhythm and soul of the music. Let it fill your consciousness and subconsciousness, like a pulsating or smooth wave (depending on the kind of music) moving through your entire body. You must imagine yourself riding on that wave like a surfer. Let your body be relaxed and it will automatically, instinctively react like the surfing board reacts naturally to the flowing waves. Your body will start to dance by itself. A dance is a physical imitation of audio imagery.

Thank you :) I sometimes meditate on music as well. Same methods apply. Many of us listen to music when bored or when doing other things like gaming and don't really feel the emotions in a music because we are distracted. To fully appreciate music, you must focus all your attention to it and ride the flow of it, run it through your mind like a floss through your teeth, and appreciate every part of its formation.

i used to dance as a meditation and i was taught to let my body move on its own instead of control my body.

i heard that some people also have used dance to get sober like john frusciante formerly of the chili peppers. i still sometimes dance alone to music.

in terms of dancing that looks good, i can't do that but i am open to learn if a girl wants me to dance with her

I don't know if I know how to dance,I just move/jump/move my arms in the rhythm of the music::p:,nothing special.
The trick is to let go and let the body move on it's own ,a bit of alcohol will help:).

I can't dance even if my life was on the line. People tell me that I'm just too stiff. Maybe I could do the robot if I practice, but I never cared about dancing either.

Something that my parents keep asking me is how am I gonna dance at my wedding ... as if i'll ever get marry

No, and it's really exasperating when people around you push you to do it just because everyone else is.

Ohh I get this if I'm ever dragged to a club. I hate it. People seem to think that you're weird if you don't dance. I've never seen the point of dancing. It looks a bit ridiculous and I'd much rather sit, drink and talk.

Maybe have a good stretch first...

You said you move your head, let your shoulders and hips pick up the same rhythmic sway your head is following...

Remember to laugh and smile, even if you're by yourself. It's supposed to be fun. :)

Do it for yourself, not for others. :D

Start with a mellow beat, once you've mastered that, you can move on to faster stuff.

There's a bunch of how to dance videos on youtube, but I honestly didn't feel like watching them to see if they're any good.

No, I don't know how to dance. I've never had the desire to anyway. Dancing is too much of an extroverted activity for my liking. I like introverted things like writing.

Don't be embarrassed. It's okay. I dance by moving my feet and hips, that is it.
But, I never dance in front of people.
