Concerning, "Survival of the Fittest".

Do you feel that the concept of Survival of the Fittest correlates to our social anxiety? Are we the weak people on the planet? Do we deserve to have a lesser life than our more sociable brethren?

The concept of "deserving" anything is nonsensical with regards to survival of the fittest.

I don't think life is about survival of the fittest, but rather how well you can cope with the different situations that life puts you through. Maybe we're just not good enough at coping yet.

It stopped being about survival of the fittest ages ago. Many people "take" what they don't deserve and many get what they deserve taken away from them.

I think you really need to read about the concept of HSP - Highly Sensitive People: like canaries in goldmines (that detect if anything is wrong), we may be important for survival of the human race as well as the others... The Highly Sensitive Person Book
She has some good articles on the site, and see if you can get the book in the library... She writes about historical and biological importance of people and animals with highly sensitive traits too.. Many people with sa are also hsp...
Many just need to learn some social skills and learn how to get a life in order... and to understand ourselves and each other..

Every system is only as strong as its 'weakest link' and ideal society is kind and compassionate to all its members.. Kinda like Star Trek, no?

Coyote was a sergeant in the Marines - do you think he is "unfit to survive"? PanicSurvivor and Confuseddd are also tough guys with anxiety conditions.

The situations people were put in when younger and with less ability to cope, which would have been too much for anyone at that same stage, lay the groundwork. The reactions that were learnt were valid in that situation. No-one says that a soldier who surrenders in the face of impossible odds, or someone who gets out of the way of a train, is a coward. The situations which founded the condition were equally unequal contests.

Just as it is always easier to speak your native language because that is the first one you learned, so what is learnt early on is difficult to counteract. It seems "right". Even though no language is intrinsically "right", or better than any other, nonetheless there is always a different feeling when using a foreign language.

Actually if you want to talk about survival of the fittest anxiety sufferers are stronger. When you have a heightened sense of anxiety your fight or flight response kicks in. Your senses sharpen, your body pumps massive amounts of adrenaline, getting you ready to react to danger. LOL. I have had panic attacks when training have been able to outperform myself by a factor of three. It was not what I would call fun but it was pretty cool in retrospect. We have an overactive fight or flight response, it sucks but it does not mean that we are weaker. It means we have more powerful ,albeit misguided, creative minds.
