cell phones; do you rely on them much?

I just realized that I've not touched my cell phone for 2 days and I don't miss it at all. I've had the ringer off - truth is I had enough of the student loan place calling and I turned ringer off and simply forgot!

For obvious reasons one needs a phone for communication, in case of emergency, employment, relatives, etc. but if I can go days without even reaching for the cell apparently it is not that important?

I admit, I like to play a few games, read The Onion, Drudge Report, and Blastr on the phone, but my contacts consist of 4 people. Brother, sister, SIL, and grandmother, that's it.

I have had the privilege of having an iPhone since I've been living with my brother, and very fortunate of being on his plan, so they pay the bill.

Otherwise, if it were up to me, I'd be content with just my laptop and for a phone, just get one of those "pay as you go" phones.

Holy cow, I am so strange. I embarrass myself.

On another note: I was flipping the channels trying to find something to watch and ran across "Long Island Medium" ... the channel was having a marathon of the show. It was just background noise but I turned and listened when she was 'reading' someone and the lady told her how bad she felt as a mother and wife because her husband and children are going to Florida but she can't due to her severe panic attacks and anxiety plus fear of flying. The "Long Island Medium" shared her story of her own panic attacks, anxiety, SA and told the lady that the anxiety one feels is the spirit world (or spirits) trying to come through and sometimes their way to tell that person not to be afraid, Not to have phobias or fear of living. She told this person she would never wish anxiety on her worst enemy.

Interesting, because I've never thought of it in such a way. Now, I am not saying this is true, not true, whatever...point is, it just made me stop dead in my tracks and really think. Interesting view, I guess.

I'll admit, I'm kind of addicted to my cell phone. I waited until last year to break down and buy a smart phone, because I didn't think I'd use it. I text constantly, I play games on it to kill time. I'm not allowed to carry it on duty, but I admit, I've ducked out once or twice to text, lol. I canceled my home phone a while back, my cell is all I use.

So in closing, yes, I rely on my cell phone a lot.

I play games and go on Facebook on my phone, plus I use various apps, so yeah, I rely on it. :)

I have never owned a cellphone. I don't call anyone and when the phone rings 90% of the time it's telemarketers calling. Also as I've mentioned before I have a bad speech impediment. Until the good old landline goes extinct I will never need one.

I don't necessarily have a ton of contacts, mostly family at that, but I do find it useful since both places I work at are in slighty seedy locations. It gives me a sense of comfort to have it on my person. Also, being able to browse the Internet from various locations is quite nice. Saves me from feeling too awkward at times, since it gives me something to focus on.

Totally. With no land line phone and no other Internet service, my ancient cell phone is my only lifeline to the outside world. It's also the only way anyone can readily get a hold of me, since I only check my email once a week now.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and the service is paid for by work. So I do use it mainly for business. For personal use I just go on facebook, text, internet radio, and online banking. As for phone calls its just for work and to talk to my parents.

If I were to leave my job I think I probably downgrade to a BlackBerry with a keyboard and only have BBM, text, and Facebook. Reason being for what i use it for it save me money on the phone and on my monthly bill and can just download music to my phone so internet radio is not required.

I don't use one... I have one that I used when I was travelling between my mother's home and my Husband's mother's home, so my mother could speak to me once a week, but since having my own home with landline it has not even been switched on (not that it works out here anyway... The signal is too weak lol).

i don't have a landline - just use my cell

i use it for work as well, especially e-mail, and the camera comes in handy - my boss and i are very visual people, sending images back and forth saves tons of time communicating

and it's good to have a phone driving around up north in the winter - if i were to slide off the road into a snow filled ditch in the woods, i want to be able to call for help before the wolves pick my frozen carcass clean

Yes. I don't like talking in public so texting is a nice alternative when I'm out on public transit or something.

My brother uses his to play games all day. As if his xbox 360 wasn't enough already.

I use mine as an alarm clock to get me up for work. So, yeah, big time. I also would use it to call AAA if the car broke down. So, it's important to have while I'm driving... I don't have a land line anymore, it was a waste of money.

But, no I don't necessarily talk to or text with ppl everyday. It has become essential for other functions.

It's all most been a year since I've owned a cell phone. I sacrificed my cellphone to afford items off my "things to buy list" It really helps :)
