can't sleep

i stay up most of the night. sometimes i enjoy it, but other times it seems like an eternity where theres so much energy and nothing to do with it, like sitting around for hours in a waiting room, then your so tired and edgy the next day that you can hardly look at anybody or talk straight. its like the day and night chemicals are reversed.

I think sometimes I can't sleep because I don't want the next day to start because I know it's just going to be exactly the same as every other day I've had so far.

It makes the next day shorter, because if you wake up at say 3pm the next day that's like 2 more hours till dinner :p

I'm only NOT sleeping

I know what you mean. Not sleeping is soo frustrating. It's just so much endless time spent doing nothing, especially when you just sit there for hours trying to go to sleep. I almost never feel tired, and can stay awake for days at a time, and it ends up making me feel really sick. The weirdest thing is the first day after no sleep I feel completely normal after the first few hours. I absolutely have to have sleeping pills or else it goes on like a cycle of days without sleep.

yeah, its weird, i feel normal after the first day too. i actually feel better after the first night without sleep, like it turns your brain down so your thoughts dont race as much. like you said though, you start to feel sick if it goes on too long. in what ways does it make you feel sick? for me its blurred vision and headaches and just being off kilter

EXACTLY, thats definately it.

i totaly agree aswel, but imagine just 8 hours away from how you feel.
i mean imagine 8 hours in absolute relaxation, when you dont have to worry about a thing! absolutely nothing exists!
sleeping is great:)
keep off the ****in caffeine:D

i got a delivery today of "melatonin" its been mentioned a lot on here. its herbal and its making me relaxed.
it may just be the "placebo effect" but others on here have tried it and it seems to work for them also.

its not eight hours away, its more like blinking and then its time to get back at it. sleep makes time go faster for me.
the caffeine doesnt keep me awake, my head keeps me awake. caffiene just makes it more comfortable being awake
these are my options:
be groggy and sleep deprived
be caffeinated and sleep deprived
take sleeping powder, sleep 8 hours and feel drugged and groggy for 24 hours,

i chose option two
good luck with the melatonin though

I sleep 5/6 hours. I go to bed really late (spend almost all night awake) and get up slightly late. It sucks because I feel my morning and part of my day are wasted.

It's hard for me to keep a steady sleep schedule now that I'm unemployed. I can get it on track for about 2 or 3 weeks, but it soon starts to slip a bit. It used to be far worse where I would stay up until 6 or 7 am. The worst it gets now I will stay up until about 3am ands wake around noon.

i dont really care if its wasting my day really!
if i had the choice between sleeping 24 hours a day or scotland winning the world cup! i would choose,,, scotland winning the world cup! (as long as i could could go back to sleep afterwards)

Use of Melatonin or other sleep aids will get you to sleep as well as avoiding stimulants in the hours preceding your sleep.

oh, i ****in hate when the flash player stops working, it takes me ages to fix!
but its about deep relaxation, a few other folks have asked me about this stuff.
the tapes and videos all basicly do the same, go to your bed switch off everthing, i mean EVERYTHING! the door bell the mobile
get in a comfy position in your bed and DONT think.
its really hard not to think when really someones telling you to think! it weird i know, but the quote i would say is
"you dont feel anxious or depressed when you are asleep so nothing can harm you then"
theres loads of tapes/recordings online and they start with "in a moment your going to feel more relaxed than youve ever known yourself to be"
i dont know the links for this stuff, but dont pay money for them!
dont "try" to sleep, cause sleep does not require "trying" its just a natural thing
im not an "armchair psychologist" i just know that it works for me:)
