Are you working towards your dream career?

I'd like to be a well-known writer. As for working at it, well, some days I write more than others. The ideal is to write every day for hours, but it's difficult, and not because I work, go to school, and take part in extracurricular activities; it has more to do with making a habit out of it.

I'm currently not, because I'm so busy with school and doing the volunteer work that I'm swamped at the moment. But once my finals are over, I will commence coding.

As much as it has been a rough road I am still chipping away at becoming what I really want in my career, an architect.

SA, or for that matter, any anxiety should not become you and govern your life. You must accept your shortcomings with the good and strive to reach your goals as scary as they may be, one step at a time.

Action is key. Even if it is something small, each day do something towards your values. For my career architecture is me.... what is yours? Or have you already succeeded?

Eh,it's not my dream career bc I never really had a realistic career goal. But I'm in charge and don't have to take orders from anyone so I suppose that's as good as it gets for a gal who didn't even finish college.

My dream career is librarian. I am (slowly) working toward this. I currently have a part-time job at a library, and plan on working my way up, and pursuing a Master's degree in the next couple of years when I have finished my Bachelor's.
Of course, I think my SA is one reason I feel like this would be a good career for me--libraries are quiet, and I like the idea of working in that type of environment. My other career ideas would require more socialization, so I fear my anxiety could prevent me from feeling comfortable.

Eventually I would like to earn a CPA certification to become an accountant. This will allow me to save up some money. I am good with desk work and can focus and apply rules well.

Economics is my interest if not passion. I would like to earn a PhD in econ and eventually teach it and do research and become a consultant or advisor.

My dream career is to be a professional developer. I like to one day write my own software and embed it into objects and gagdets. I want to specialize in augmented reality and ergonomics development. The Google Glass project looks pretty cool, but at the moment I am too poor to afford any fancy gagdets.

And if I have spare time, I will contribute to linux and other open source projects. But I realize I am a long way from doing this, at this moment. I am currently studying business and IT; the business part is boring, not something I'm passionate in, but the knowledge that I learned is useful and important. As soon as classes are done, I want to try working towards achieving my dream.

I tried to get Penguin Books to take me on as an author.

My roots are in being a star essay writer, always coming up with the best off-topc ideas from an original theme

Good luck ^. I'm doing Computer Science, 3 weeks left of my first year and I've barely been to class this semester due to my SA :s

I do maybe 2 hours work a week and I'm still ahead of most of the class. I wish I could focus and actually put my talents to work :kickingmyself:

Yes, a screenwriter. I also hope to go into videogame writing. My goal is to write my own television show which will get me rich and laid. I don't do it for the rewards, but the rewards help me stay motivated. One good thing about having SA is that it creates an lack of contentment with life which can never be filled, which motivates me to work to improve my circumstances.

I wish I had a dream career. I have a B.S. in sociology, and I want to go to grad. school someday; but, I don't want to go until I figure out what I want my future career to be since I have no idea what I would study and specialize in at grad. school. What worries me is that I may never figure out what my "dream career" is.

It's wonderful to see others in this thread who have similar goals since I'm also working to be a librarian. I'm currently going through a certification degree at a community college in addition to info courses at my university. I'll be in the master's program within the next two years. It's exciting. Even though I have a lot of social issues I've always felt best when helping others in the community. Another dream of mine is to develop a proper webcomic but that's been delayed due to some serious computer hiccups.

I wanted to be a pilot. I have neither the money nor skill.

I have no hopes, dreams or expectations so that means I won't be sad when I achieve nothing, right? lol :p
