My mind just seems to work so slowly when i am outside. And thats on paroxetine. It was even slower before without medication.

without sounding big headed i am fairly intelligent, but when im in public my mind is that clouded by anxiety and negative thoughts that i struggle to string together a coherent sentence at times, which must give people the impression that i am. (ps nice to see someone else on here from the.north east :) )

Sure, I'm quite slow at many things. I think everyone is good at some things and is slower at others. Especially for many of us here I would guess that just being stressed (esp in front of people) will severely slow down important thought processes.. cause your mind is soooo fast at making those anxiety related thoughts.

I agree, too fast at anxiety related thoughts, and too slow at logic.
However, without anxiety I think being slow can be really helpful, so if I am at times I'm grateful for it....... :)

I think I function at a "normal" speed when I'm completely alone and relaxed. (Although that may be just an illusion because there's no one else around to compare myself to.... hah) But whenever I'm around anyone else (even around my best friend, my boyfriend, my parents, etc... people I SHOULD feel 100% comfortable with) my mind tends to shut down, and this forces me to do.... and... say.... things.... extremely.... slowly.... and.... awkwardly. (For instance, I tend to pause a lot when I speak as if searching for the right words, but the right words never come, so I either 1) panic and just say whatever words come to mind... which makes me sound like a complete idiot (since the right words NEVER automatically come to me) or 2) I won't finish the rest of my sentence and just trail off, forcing the person I'm talking with to guess what I mean and try fill in the rest of the sentence for me! lol Either way, I end up sounding like a moron.... which is horribly frustrating, because I know I'm intelligent!... I just can't show my intelligence to others.... hah... :(

yup, sometimes...

it really depends on time of day/nutrition/how I feel/weather/...

I can be slow with some things and quick with other things, it depends..

Used to be. Walked like a snail. Mumbled. Mind blanked always. Mouth open eyes wide kind of staring at walls for hours. This title brought back many, many memories of that horrible nickname...Slow.. slow slow slow slow slow.... I was intelligent, so it didn't make any sense... Found out it was a food allergy. Not saying anybody elses is. Just the word slow is scarring to me.

Actually, my mind is much more fluid when I'm outside :D

but yes, I'm exceptionally slow... at pretty much everything. I think slowly, make decisions slowly, come to understandings slowly, learn slowly... etc haha

Indication

Definitely. I'm not slow as in thinking, or doing things. I do and think everything way too fast. I just mean thinking about anything, not as in being smart or anything.I am just slow to understanding and being able to get what just happened.

Am I slow? Physically I may be. What's the rush?

Mentally, intellectually, absolutely. Especially here where I can take the time to think and write. Positively a positive to being slow.

Socialworld, learning to take my time. Ignoring that they may want an answer at their pace. Still fight nervous feelings which do end up causing stutters and mispronounced words. As I rush my thoughts.

Did I say 43 I meant 34.

very slow... at my job i usually walk very slow, so when a customer requests i "run" and grab them something, they are usually very displeased with how long it took.
