Everyone seems to have a different perception of money. I too react a little to those who are too dismissive of money. Certainly it doesn't buy happiness, but money isn't necessarily for spending, at least not for me.
For me it represents security and opportunity. Without money, opportunities in life are fewer and far between. I know I can sleep a lot easier knowing I have an emergency fund and can feed, cloth and house myself if I ever loose my job.
I'm not rich, but I'm not poor either. I've set very clear financial goals for myself and I'm working hard to achieving them. It's not an empty, soulless exercise that some here make it out to be.
It's not going solve my SA problems as everyone here agrees, but it'll mosdef help as long as one has a responsible attitude towards money.
It's too easy to abuse money, especially if you have it and especially if you happen to suffer from SA, I know, I've been there.
Having money is not the panacea to our emotional lives that we are all seeking. If anything, having money and maintaining it is far more stressful than not having money.
I agree though, you can have a happy, fulfilling life without money and many do, but to not own up to the responsibilities of your own fiscal well being, whether it is to get fabulously rich or to just live humbly on a small nest egg, is a sin in my opinion.
