I have a weird feeling I made a thread like this before?!!?

Buuuuut...

List 10 things.

1 being the least anxious situation you can find yourself in.

10 being the most anxious situation you can find yourself in.

Soooo for example.. Me..

1. Talking on the phone to a customer service person
2. Going to a store (depending on the day, can be worse)
3. Spending time with/Talking to immediate family members
4. Asking a stranger a question about something
5. Meeting people I never met before
6. Going to a party
7. Going to a family gathering
8. Being around children (I have an OCD issue here)
9. Spending time with an acquaintance
10. Going on a date with someone

Basically, those go from "No biggie" in my head to "No no no!" in my head. It's hard to gauge, though. Sometimes I have better/worse days than others with these things. Most of the time it's really the lead up to the situation that causes the most anxiety.

I am reading a book on shyness right now and one of the things it told me to do was write a list of the situations that freak me out and gradually expose myself to the easier ones first. Don't know if it works but here's mine.

2. Passing people in a hallway. No idea why
3. Dance clubs
4. Playing with kids
5. Talking on the phone

1. Going on vacation or to amusement parks or zoos, etc. - I am able to enjoy myself at places like that. I'm still a bit anxious, but not nearly as bad as usual. I guess I am just enjoying myself and having a good time and focusing on other things instead of the nagging thoughts of being judged and ridiculed.
2. A ringing phone or doorbell.
3. Having to pick something up at the store.
4. Going to get my hair cut.
5. Having to go to the doctor and dentist and waiting in crowded waiting rooms.
6. Running into someone I know at a store and dreading the "so what are you up to now" and "you're still not married" questions.
7. Jury duty - thank goodness I haven't had to do this yet, but I'm always afraid I'm going to get one of those letters in the mail.
8. Family gatherings, weddings, funerals, etc.
9. Job interviews.
10. Public speaking.

3.) Eating in front of others.
4.) Signing my name or having to write in front of others.
5.) Engaging in small talk with anyone.
6.) Doctors or Dentist... Doesn't matter how many people are in the waiting room.
7.) Being unemployed, and having bills that need to be paid!
8.) Being in a crowded elevator, where people are invading my "space".
9.) At the checkout, and having to count money... I can, it's just doing it in front of others... Eeek!
10.) Attractive women.... (frustrated and anxious)

That was the point of making these lists :)

People can have them as a point to work from.

Seeing what other people listed as anxious situations, makes my list grow. haha. ::p:

1) Going to work.
2) Interviews/formal meetings.
3) The thought of going on a date with the opposite sex (I've been on quite a few, but beforehand I'm as anxious as hell, although it's probably normal. When I get there I'm fine).
4) Queing up for something in a shop and having to pay for it.
5) Eating out in restaurants.
6) Entering busy shops in busy malls/shopping centres.
7) The awkwardness of having to stand and 'catch up' (talk) with somebody, and stand talking. If we're walking along together it's fine though.
8) The thought of going to any nightclubs/pubs now I'm 18 (except the one pub I go to every now and again that's reasonably quiet and I'm familiar with).
9) Going to other peoples houses that I don't know too well.
10) Examinations or any kind of assessment.

Much of this makes me anxious too, its kind of comforting to know I'm not the only one made anxious by the dark ::eek::. I find it quite difficult to sleep in pitch black and like to have the door open a bit, to let just a bit of light in. I don't like being in elevators either and use stairs whenever possible. I also in a similar way get anxious on plains. Taking off and landing especially makes me feel panicky, and whenever I remember I'm in the air at random points haha. I get panicky sometimes in busy supermarkets and stuff also. I hate queuing at the checkout for some reason, and get all flustered. I also really fear not having enough money too haha and sometimes check a few times that I have enough before queuing. I feel like this too in halls sat with other people, such as assembles when I was at school, in the silence, watching someone talk at the front. It made me nervous because I felt like it was me at the front in a way, like everyone in the hall was watching me. Public speaking is another big one for me and I dread the idea of ever being in a situation where I have to again. Answering the phone/making calls also makes me anxious, aswell as rings at the door, especially if I'm not expecting it. I haven't called anyone myslef other than my mum for ages. Really loud and rude people also can put me on edge. And also walking around at night with gangs of idiots around, and more stuff to do with people.
