I was wondering how much time you guys spend here?
I feel i spend way too much time here..just being a spectator who lurks about.
So i think i should visit less forums and concentrate on how to improve my situation thats affected by anxiety.

Do you feel that you spend too much time? Dont you feel online presence hampers your ability to interact in real world. I will like to know your views.

Not too much happens, so very little.

Forums are useful to know if anyone else is experiencing the same things or for some tips, but if you read too much into a niche population it can start to skewer your view of things and if you don't look for new input (intellectual, sensory, whatever) it's easy to stagnate as a person. I know forums where the same subjects are brought up time and time again, playing out the same way, and some of the members have been doing it for years with it as one of their only sources of social contact...

The problem with Internet advice is that it's often Hallmark-esque positivity quotes, advice from someone who knows nothing of your situation, or a request for advice from someone who poorly communicates the situation.

This forum helped me start online dating. I read about how people were doing online dating so I then decided to try it out and I have already met over 10 different women in person with online dating.

It's way more social interaction than the zero social interaction I was doing b4, so the time I've spent here has been beneficial.

I think it's up to us whether we decide to interact with the outside world whether we have internet or not. JMO.

Hearing people's failures and success stories has helped me. It helps to know that someone else is out there with the same type of disorder.

Not that much really. I do alot of stuff outside during the day and work etc so I don't feel I am "wasting" time but maybe i am? LOL

Thanks guys for answering.
@ chess- yeah one has to use the info one gains through reading on forums, and apply it or else i think you just become addicted to it. its miserable to stagnate.. re posting the same things again and again.

@Winja-oh i agree..it seems so embarrassing kind of at least for me to say that i do nothing every time one asks.

@Ocean mist- that great you met 10 women through online dating..i personally dont think thats the option for me.btw i will like men lol

@MNM- thats nice thing to do, it will help you spend less time here and more time in offline world.
I just think that time should be managed, as i have realized that its sort of become addictive to me.

I spend more time here, and on the computer in general, than I probably should. Since I'm busy with school now though, I go anywhere between being on here for about an hour a day to not even logging in at all for a few days. It really varies at the moment.

Typically though, when I'm not in school, I'm on this forum for at least 2 hours a day. On the internet overall, at least 6 - 8 hours. I really need to cut back on my internet time. I know I'm way too addicted. My carpal tunnel proves it too.

Something else

Way too much. I spend more in the chat than on the site, but I still read a lot of posts here, even though I don't post too much. Plus it's not just here but the computer in general. I'm literally on the computer all hours of the day. I desperately need to find something else to do, this is really getting to me.

I get a bit self conscious about spending too much time on forums and seeing my name up the page a lot. I only post because i'm bored mainly and sometimes because people may need words of help/encouragement.
I know a lot of people come to these places to look for friendship or something more but i'm not really interested in that.
I need a new hobby.

I don't spend as much time here as I used to when I first joined. Once or twice a week. That works better for me. With that said, I am addicted to the internet. There are many sites all competing for my attention, and I also do work online. I would like to pursue hobbies outside of my computer screen of course. But I never seem to find the time for that.

well i'm glad you are somewhere around here! Sometimes I worry that you have left spw because i dont go on chat and you dont post much  dun.dun.
What has helped me stay off the computer a bit is focusing on doing a bit of chores for the family around the house. So I at least spend like an hour doing housework. On top of that and cooking meals and readying for the day and building little tiny hobbies slowly (like reading), computer time goes down. Also never staying in your PJs if you have a lazy day! It is soooo demotivating and energy sucking!

I used to be here all day and check the site several times a day. Now I'm very busy with uni and when I'm only I'm mostly on Facebook, but I still come here a few times a week to see if I have PMs or something and then I take a look to threads that could look interesting.
