Coffee, yay or nay?

I can't tell. I've drank it for so many years that I can't tell if it does anything or not. The only thing I can say is that I need it badly.

I love coffee, but it counters my effort to stay well hydrated. I'm extremely prone to get heavy migraines whenever my body is slightly out of balance, so I can't afford to become too dehydrated.

Coffee can be an occasional yay, but lately i'm drinking a lot of it and it's effects have changed a lot. At first it would make me really jittery, peppy, talkative, happy, energetic, and now I drink it to feel the normal awake feeling that people get in the morning, which lasts 30 minutes, and then I get a coffee crash :( which consists of barely being able to walk sometimes from weakness, sugar cravings, anger, anxiety, nausea, yeah, it sucks. I pretty much keep drinking it because I don't like the headache / fatigue that comes on for a week+ when ya stop

Not good for anxiety, good for occasional usage, not habit.

Coffee, for me, is a killer. I get all trippy and nervous for hours. One cup is okay though.

Student life got me needing two thick pints of freeze-dried, crystalline, instant coffee every morning, after a few late nights past midnight to get going in the mornings.

After lectures... then beers

There was just one office a few years ago where I found a cafetiere people were using. I was SA brave enuff to ask about it. I then starting making a fresh pot round, regularly. This was simple and subjective, but significant. It's the normal rigmarole of everyone that I can't stand. Can't cope with standard people. Just finding fresh ground coffee powder is enough to set it apart from string fruit tea, and freeze-dried brown. This has carried on every office since, where I don't mind getting the fuel to share. Someone brought in his golden cafetiere from home, to make it. Then I found others with the kit.

It was years before that a sound old schoolmate showed me a vast sack of beans from his dad's new Costa Rica plantation investment. I sat there hearing the noise of that grinder. He said it would probably be the best coffee I'd ever tasted, and I took him seriously. Never bothered again until I saw my first cafetiere.

At home though, I see proper ground coffee as the cheapest drink. Ain't gonna pay anyone to make me a coffee. I don't want hot things; I wait for it to cool a bit once brewed. It doesn't have such the 'keep the day going' effect it used to. I found my favourite blend (French) and highest strength available. Maybe that's why it's lost its vigour. Overloading might end in a lack of kick.

Decided a long time ago to set 1500 as the last of the day.

Maybe since using this website I've lost a need for coffee. People's thoughts keep me thinking

Wow, that sounds bad. ::(:

Last winter I drank some every day for a month and quit cold turkey without any problems. I rarely drank more than 16oz in one day, sometimes less, though.

I don't drink coffee regularly. I tend to feel a little sick if I drink it more than once a day and/or for days in a row. My body does not handle caffeine well at all either. I get very jittery, my chest feels tight, my pulse increases, and I get headaches.

I really love a nice iced coffee when I go out shopping sometimes though, with sugar and flavored sugar syrup, no milk. One cup is okay for me and doesn't make me sick.

I really do prefer tea though, especially chai. Mmmm. ::p: I love it!

I drink coffee only rarely. Normally I stick to tea. I got one of these chrome glass teapots. And I like it, when I'm at home after work, and the little candle under the pot lights up the whole thing, and makes the golden tee shine like a warm lantern. ^^

Also I like feeling and smelling the tea leaves and so on. ^^

Earl Gray tea in the evening is nice before you go to bed ,, the decaf stuff .

My dad would drink coffee all day long and would fall asleep as soon as he went to bed ,,don't know how he did it .

^ My dad used to be like that too. He would drink 8+ cups a day and not have a problem taking a nap or sleeping at night. Crazy!

It doesn't do anything for me but I still enjoy drinking it. It has become more of a morning ritual than anything else, really.

You know how sometimes they say smokers find it hard to quit because they always feel they have to have something in their hands?
That's how I am with coffee. At work I'll drink about 5-8 cups a day (one an hour) and even drink energy drinks too. I have to say I've not really noticed any side-effects, but I'm wondering if I cut back significantly maybe I'll feel less tired and/or anxious.
