I have always lived with my parents, and was just wondering how many of us with Social Phobia live on their own, and how do they deal with it ?

44 and live with my parents. It doesn't help that my job only pays me $45k a year and will never give me a promotion. So for me, looking for other work that doesn't stress me out, aggravate my phobias and allows me to live comfortably is a full time chore. With my parents, I get meals, cable, my laundry done and them of course, so I'm not alone. I'm not financially in a place to think of anything else and having no friends, no where to go anyway.

At the moment, I partly live on my own and partly live with my parents. I'm in the process of transitioning to live on my own.

As much as I wish I could move out, I can't afford it at the moment. I think it's a major source of my current depression.

You go girl!! I hope to be moving out not too long from now as well. I'm trying to find a community college with dorms that has the things I find necessary. I'm also a bit indecisive about what I want to do in life. I'm happy for you. I hope everything goes great.

I know how you all feel about all that responsibility. It's alot to take in especially for someone with SA or whatever. What I want more then anything is to get out of my parents house, I'm afraid, I'm not sure I can handle it, but I have to, and I'm going to. I'm sure we'll all find our way, just keep trying.;)

I would love to live alone. It's the financial side of things that doesn't feel the same way.

I live with my mom and plan for it to always be that way. I know that sounds weird but she's literally all I have left and I can't imagine being away from her. We have a very close relationship and I treat her like the sister I never had. Naturally we get on each others' nerves sometimes but that's to be expected and even then I can't bring myself to live apart from her. I guess I really am too sheltered and dependent :/

As much as I would love to live on my own my confidence in doing so has been shattered from years of my sister putting me down.

I know how you feel, I have never gotten on well with my sister. Luckily for me she moved out 18 years ago, and I rarely see her.

Yeah. Shes made fun of me ever since we were little that i was never going to live on my own and that I would live with mom until im 40. After hearing this for years my self fulfilling prohecy has long set in, thanks to her I keep questioning whether I actually have the independence to move out and go to university. Shes shattered my confidence.

This is me exactly. I want to move out on my own and be a lot more independent but money won't let me. You and I share the same desires, Lost.

My wife and me both live in my dads basement. Shes finishing up school, and im paying my way through a bad financial debt that i screwed up on and got myself into.

We wont be out for at LEAST another 2 yrs, maybe 3.

This is all i ever hear about from her dad, he likes to remind me of how much of a failure he considers me to be. Makes it difficult to want to spend time with the inlaws.

Dunno why this girl loves me! lol
