absolutely. it's amazing that they were able to break through those barriers to achieve their goals and become as successful as they did, something I can't even imagine doing myself right now... To have that much courage and determination and keep putting themselves out there like they would have had to - that is amazing, and something to aspire to

Ramazzotti recalls being extremely shy in the early 1980s before achieving fame:
When I went to Milan to further develop my musical skills, I remember being so shy at the time that I would simply get terrified of going to restaurants all by myself, so I would go without eating throughout my time in Milan

I had posted this a little while ago and found it interesting. Chris Evans SA doesnt seem very extreme now but Im not sure how bad it was when he was younger. I always like hearing when celebrities are flawed people too. It makes me like them especially more. Captain America's Chris Evans Opens Up About Social Anxiety

Jared Padalecki from the show Supernatural has talked about his bouts with depression and I think hes involved in some organization to help people.

I love this thread. Realizing that some of the most famous figures in entertainment and sport once dealt with severe social anxiety gives me hope.

The thing about anxiety is that most people have it in some form. Yes, some are more prone to bouts of severe anxiety (I'd still like to know the science behind that, if it exists), but at the end of the day most of it's about how you can shape your own mind in a way that's able to deal with your anxiety and still live a full, eventful life.

When I think of movies that depict social anxiety well Punch-Drunk Love is always one that comes to my mind quickly, but I had never thought of Adam Sandler (the lead in the movie) with any of those issues personally, but when I was watching him on Ellen recently I was very much getting a familiar vibe from him. He may have just been regular old nervous for some reason, but nonetheless I was watching and he finished nearly every sentence with "I'm sorry" or "Thanks" which is something I will do when I get it in my head I don't say them enough, and then end up over saying them. His stories were all also sort of rambles, like something you plan in your head and sounds funny or interesting but when it comes out you don't have the confidence or conviction and it comes off as completely bland. Again, basically me every time I open my mouth.

The thing that really struck me though was when he was talking about going out, and more specifically about how he doesn't go out. Like he was talking about what he liked to do, and it was stay home, hang out with his kids, watch tv, and play basketball. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, just with everything else it lines up that perhaps being around people outside his comfort zone is, well, notably uncomfortable.
