I missed crying...

I know this is a bit gey, a man should never cry. But for some reason i missed it. You know, when you were a kid and cried yourself to sleep and that amazing feeling when you wake up. But for some reason i can't cry anymore... I might get teary at times when watching "certain" movies. But even then i can squeeze no tear from my eyes. :\

neither can I ... and I also miss it very much.. I guess r so down that u can't even cry, u cry to get stuff outta r system, but u can't get this outta r system, the pain is to big, and r to use to it. u cry when something bad happens to u to get it out.. but when s**** happens to u everyday u get use to it and it just goes into the big whole u have, waiting for more pain... and u know that crying won't solve anything, like when u were a kid, so therefore u can't cry... don't know if u understood me, and I know it doesn't help r situation:D

Yeah me too. Crying feels good because you actually feel a bit better after releasing a bit of tension. If i get drunk alone i cry without fail, like when i got drunk on Jagermeister a while ago i just cried and cried for what seemed like hours.

i was just thinking about this yesterday, i havent been able to cry in so long ..even though i really want/need to. i miss it as well.

I have no problem crying at ALL, my depression + sad movies take care of that. I have the following levels :

Level 1 : Teary eyes.
Level 2 : Tears running slowly down my face.
Level 3 : Steady stream of tears from both eyes.
Level 4 : "The Waterfall", I can now barley see anything.
Level 5 : "The Waterfall" + sobbing + complete loss of control. (a bit scary)

I actually grade sad movies on IMDB depending how high I get :)

Movies that trigger a high level for me, are movies where kids die :

Hotaru no haka (1988) (my only Level 5 so far)
My Sister's Keeper (2009)
Freedom Writers (2007)
The Ultimate Gift (2006)
Bridge to Terabithia (2007)

or where people are dying for someone/something they love :

The Last Samurai (2003)
Man on Fire (2004)
Léon (1994)

From the mighty Internet :

Tufts Daily - New research questions benefits of crying

"The University of Florida study also indicated that individuals with mental health problems such as chronic anxiety are unlikely to experience benefits from crying.

Willard agreed that for those with more depressive tendencies, crying might not bring any long-term relief."

Hmm, interesting, I don't feel any better after crying, I just feel empty. Maybe I'm an emotion junkie ?!

The only time I ever reached a "Level 5, was when my dad was in the ICU." "when my dad was in hospice care at home and I was saying my goodbyes." and "when I had to come to the decision of putting my dog to sleep." I totally and completely lost control of my emotions. Yeah, it is very scary to loose control.... and also being that sad. Being that sad makes me think of suicide allot more too...

Also, you forgot in your list of movies: "Titanic" and "The Notebook"

When I cry I make the biggest mess ever, because instead of tears gallons of clear mucus explode from my sinuses nonstop... if it's really bad I can't breathe anymore because my airway is completely blocked... and afterwords I feel dehydrated lol

I cry a lot.. And pretty easily.::p:

It's okay to not cry so much. Everyone is different.

The aftermath of crying is embarrassing for me. I always, without fail, cry so hard that I exhaust myself and need to sleep for at least an hour or so. Which results in fluid building up in my eyelids and then when I wake up, I look like Disney's Quasimodo cause my lids are swollen and lumpy. And usually, I have to go to class or work so I have to hope it's not that noticeable.

Crying in front of people is embarassing, too cause like I said, when I cry I always cry really hard and I can't stop myself. So not only is everyone seeing me look like I'm in complete agony, they get to see how red my face turns, cause I'm so pale.

yea sumtimes a good cry feels good. although i kind of feel immasculine afterwards, it feels good. I guess i been taught all these years not to show weakness, but sometimes i just dont care and i have to let it out

Nothing wrong with crying. It's such a silly rule that men aren't suppose to cry. It shows humanity and helps you deal with and adapt to things. It's not such a good morning today, I feel like crying my eyes out. Why not.

Do you guys realize that Korean men, you know those pop stars. They're more sensitive than Americans? I mean that's why the majority of them look so feminine? Or should i say "Pretty and CLEAN!" *shivers*

Yeah I wish I could cry properly more because like you said you feel like you're releasing something and it makes you feel better, even if its in a negative way.
