I always thought this was hilarious, as is The Secret. I don't mean that thinking positively and picturing what you want is worthless. I just don't think you can get whatever you want like that nonsensical book says.

I am not saying optimistic attitude doesn´t help, but despite of it, there are often serious limits. People should be humble enough to acknowledge that they are not always in control of everything, the book sounds to me very narcissistic, like people saying they are gods and can do everything they want. It also means thinking bad of "losers", people who had a bad luck in life or suffered. They must probably look down on them, thinking they just didn´t think positively enough or that they caused their situation themselves, which may be true or partly true sometimes, but also it may be totally incorrect. I am not saying this because I was offended personally, but because I just don´t like this attitude, which is subtly shifting guilt from perpetrators to victims.

i thought you were describing a happy dream state where nothing can go wrong for you. like a mental vacation in the middle of all the chaos.

maybe those thought processes might make the reality worse for the longing of something that can't rally exist. question

sometimes when things get difficult i try to focus on just the first few objectives that need to get done, so i dont get overwhelmed.

I agree. I definitely think the secret is corny as hell and completely understand most of the criticisms of it but in this case the person criticizing it just read the wikipedia article about it!

Why is she mistaken?... I have not read the book but I watched the video, and I would say I have to agree with her. The outlandish claims as to what can be acheived through positive imagary are way too exagerated.
