A hush of wind plays under birds' wings,
Amid inescapable laughter,
Children's voices like the sun,
Like perfume on warm skin,
Nowhere to playfully retreat.
R3K. (oops, it doesn't rhyme:

The sweet perfume of your presence
Lustrous tresses dare the mirror
And day by day, year by year
Each second nearer and a lifetime further
The inescapable truth loud in reminiscence
The way you playfully laugh
Laughing away the hush of my solitude
Coaxing in me my strength renewed
More than a wife, more than a friend
Yet the sands in the hourglass has run out
Now that you're no longer near
I feel less than I was, less than a man
So by the days as they retreat
And the nights as they enfold
The waking man lost in wandering
Amid these dreaming memories
The inescapable truth I now know it's true
I have never stopped loving you...

I can smell her perfume from a mile away
Stiflingly strong like everyday
My nose runs, my eyes water
My throat gets increasingly hotter
She walks over, playful and kind
Wants to sit near me, asks if I mind
In a hush I say No, go right ahead
Hoping she wouldn't hear what I said
She finds her way next to me, smiles real big
Unaware the inescapable odor that digs
Deep into my skin, like a mole in the spring
She speaks but my ears are now amid a ring
She looks at me like I have something to say
I say Hold on, I'll be back, ok?
I retreat to the bathroom and take a deep breathe
Thinking this air is better then crystal meth
I see an open window and make the decision
To squeeze through the space with grace and precision
I climb and crawl and push and pull
Escaping to freedom, charging home like a bull.

I heard someone say hush as a scent filled the room
Retreat was yelled, run for your lives or you shall be doomed.
all windows were opened perfume was sprayed
The culprit was found amongst amid the haze
inescapable sounds came from from brother
But playfully he laughted and did another.

with meaty sweet needle-bush perfume
hungry honeyeaters probe brush tongues
into flowers laden with nectar.
Emu wrens move playfully amid
banksia tangles
wistful calls lost in a hush of wind.
The running creek water
filing over worn sandstone rocks
is cool on my lips.
The water tumbles over the edge
of coastal cliffs inescapable prisoners
of the oceans assualt.
I reatreat into the memory of better days
spent sitting near Eagle Rock
legs dangling over the edge
the future stretching
unknown to the horizon.

As we journey amid the pressing crowd;
They think they jostle us playfully
Yet our souls are screaming aloud!
