Yeah, sometimes I get weird looks and wtf comments and then I wonder why I said anything. I beat up myself up over things like that too.:

I don't even need a funny look. I can say something, then realise later that it could be taken another way to the way I intended, and that's it. I'm dwelling on it for the next week! :
:Seriously, I thought I was the only person who has this. I think it's that we're so focused on not messing up the conversation. Everything has to flow nicely or we get nervous, and I think the pressure of that gets too much, so every now and then something inane or out-of-place sneaks out. I find it worse when I've had a few drinks (I use alcohol sometimes to help me get through social events). The worst part is definitely the obsession afterwards though. I have a really tough time letting go of whatever stupid thing I said.
It is a problem. I have given up on it. Odd to say it that way. How to take it? Takes time, shrug shoulders and move on. They already think you're different and strange. Not saying you are, you seem normal to me. They don't worry about what you said why should you?

Email exchanges are always worse for me, because I can read them later and keep beating myself up over any and every little thing. So I try not to keep them for too long, otherwise I end up driving myself nuts. Without the temptation, though, I just get on with my life.
With speaking one has two alternatives. One can either try to accept what one said and move on, or not say anything at all. I've been doing the latter for far too long, so I'm forcing myself to switch over to the former. I'm far from perfect, so I occasionally make a "mistake." SA makes it more difficult to do, but I try my best to learn from it and move on.
Though I'm getting rather tired of the taste of my own feet....

Yeah, Tiercel, emails are terrible but I can take all the time I want on those so it's not that hard. You can't backspace in real life. Also, i'm getting better at forgeting stupid stuff i've said over the years. I figured leave the past in the past you can't take it back so why moan about it.

I was a class officer (appointed not elected!) and sent out a mass email to several hundred students in which i spelled "tomorrow" as "tomarrow." After someone pointed it out I didn't have the courage to check my email for several weeks for fear of ridicule.
That's why I make sure to look for any typos.

i always have that -_-
but i usually have thoughts which play back the conversations i had and what i could have said instead and i always feel like i have to go back and correct something that i thought didnt sound right and it goes on and on. then i get ignored, then i start to think of what i said etc etc. ::
