what's your view on religion??

I want to punch people in the face when they say with complete certainty that `there is no God`. I also wanna punch people in the face when they say with complete certainty that there is a god.

There are literally trillions of possibilities about God and the universe. Saying you're atheist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or any other religion is choosing one possibility out of that trillion and thinking (with nothing to back you up) that it's the only true answer.

I was certainly offended when I read this passage because you seem to be assuming that all atheists are dogmatic.

First of all, not all atheist define atheism as the belief in the non-existence of a god. Some of them define it as simply the lack of belief in all gods. They even have two different sorts of atheists, weak atheists (skeptical about the existence of God) and strong atheists (those that believe that God doesn't exist).

I don't really care so much about their definitions and in fact, I stopped labeling myself as an atheist because of being dissatisfied with their definition. But I can say, that even among strong atheists, most would simply believe that God doesn't exist. Few of them would assert that they absolutely know that God doesn't exist.

Thus, please don't assume that if a person labels himself as an atheist, then he is asserting that he absolutely knows that God doesn't exist.

You Can't Kill Rock & Roll

[Daisley - Osbourne - Rhoads]

How many times
Can they fill me with lies
And I listen again
Twisting the truth
And they're playin' around with my head, O.K.
The things they will do and the things they will say
But they don't really understand
Tears fill my eyes when I hear all the cries
For the reason today

And they don't really know even what they're talkin' about
And I can't image what empty heads can achieve
Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
You can't kill rock & roll, it's here to stay

Lookin' through eyes of time
Mirrors reflecting their stories untrue
Promises, promises
Telling me all of my glories overdue
How many times have I heard it before
And I'll probably hear it again
King of a thousand knights, pawn in a table light
Losing to you

And they don't really know even what they're talkin' about
And I can't image what empty heads can achieve
Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
You can't kill rock & roll, it's here to stay

Even the rhymes that they
Give me in times of confession ain't true
Outcome is obvious
All for them, none for us
Meaning you too
The things they will do and the things they will say
When they don't really understand
Fear of rejection, I need their protection
I'm making a stand

'Cos they don't really know even what they're talkin' about
And I can't image what empty heads can achieve
Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
You can't kill rock & roll, it's here to stay

Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
I'm born to rock & roll, I'm here to stay, yeah

When you base your beliefs on emotions, and when evidence exists that contradicts your beliefs, you are saying your emotions are more important than what is actually real.

Amusingly, emotions can feel more "important" than what you know is real. Just look at phobias :D

Because he needs your money, lots and lots of money so the Pope can walk around in $500 loafers.

Satan, on the other hand, has not asked anyone for a penny. Who is more evil!?

haha thats funny,I always think about that,if we sold one of Pope's clothes and utensils we could probably feed an entire African village for weeks,I dont mind if you believe in something superior or whatever, but this, some people just need to open their eyes and think about it a little...

The Pope needs Liberace-like clothes so he can be more like...Jesus?

I'm not gonna lie I hate what Europe has done to Christianity....they completely messed it all up. But if you look at the history of Christianity back when majority of Christians lived in Asia, the Asian ones were much more tolerant of other religions, in fact they embraced the fact that Buddhism and Christianity are almost the same in certain ways. They saw heaven and hell the way I see them, as metaphores for happiness and unhappiness. Buuuut white men are greedy, so they found a way to turn Christianity into a money making scheme...sad...

Imagine what everything would look like if you were one nanometer tall. The human body wouldn't look like a body to you anymore! It would just look like nothing because you wouldn't be able to tell what you're looking at. Imagining that people are still capable of being that ignorant of what's beyond their perception makes mysteries that neither an atheist nor a christian could answer.

There is definitely more to know and learn than can be learned in 10 life times, but that doesn't mean I'm an idiot.

If the best thing you can think of is what if I was really small, then you don't have any knowledge to back up your assertion. "Just come on" isn't an argument.

Just because I don't know what's in a box, it doesn't give me license to claim the box is full of unicorn bones. Science is constantly chipping away at what this reality we live in contains, have some patience.

Yes, but even with a phobia, you intellectually know that there is nothing to really fear...but your emotions override your rational thought.

I remember hearing the llamas used to be the same way Catholics are with lavish clothes and lavish living, while preaching living simply.

I wonder how this stuff gets started, I wonder what the first guy said, I want to hear that pitch about how he needs all the money to look so good, instead of using it on the poor.

i found my answers about religion in eckhart tolle's book.i never got to realize why ppl had to fight about religion when it's something completely dependent on where you r born and what influences you have and if you have money to buy books to educate yourself.there is a great power...i really believe that...and if someone uses religion to come in touch with that power then i completely respect that.if someone uses the 'satan' term to come in touch with that power i respect that too(cause i dont think that the power is good or evil it's the way ppl use that power)....but i hate hate hate this conversation:
-y dont u go to church, don't u believe in god?
--yeah but in my own way
-what do you mean own way..there is only one way!
--FOR U DUDE...FOR YOU:rolleyes: i connect with metal:D:D:D

Either God exists or he doesn't.. The problem with everyone just believing what they want for any old reason is that these people then use those ideas to make laws, they get in to wars, they choose who gets elected and who doesn't...it effects you; all based on the belief there's an invisible man in the sky. This is serious stuff. It's not like they believe in God and they just keep it to themselves and it's harmless; it effects the whole World and I think in very negative ways.

it does effect the world and it is the reason that many ppl don't get along(in many levels-from the lower one on one arguments that ppl have, to the wars that nations have).but this argument is like those political debates in tv that NEVER ever end.the only thing that ppl can do is to watch them and form opinions(or kill the politicians:D)...and if someone didn have the opportunity to study the subject they will just get along with what others say...and i am not saying its not serious staff but i cant see how this can be changed when most of the ppl don't have the resources(internet ,books) to study religion and form an opinion of their own.

You're right. Most debates are just beating a dead horse and something like a religious debate is beating the same dead horse for years and sometimes centuries. If they use the same arguments, you can bet that a lot of people have analyzed them and you can pick them apart yourself. Just hearing two people argue for an hour doesn't mean you're getting all the relevant info, it needs to be backed up with your own research before you can really make a decision. Investigating the arguments yourself is where the real value is.

Well I see it as... well, just that, religion, lol. Don't get me wrong, I believe there's a God, but I'm no devout worshipper, and I hardly pray at all, sometimes maybe. I just really really believe in freedom of expression and freedom in general, and feel like religion will hold me back on things i really want to do even more. Simple as that, at least for me.

i could'nt careless about it, what does it serve in my everyday life?.... nothing. I dont have time for such shit, were here we die end of story. not sayin nothing happens after that i dont know, i'd rather not know and find out when it happens. i cant even get my head around why anyone would want to "follow" anybody. Its ****in mind control if i ever did see it: eat this, dont eat this, dont do this, live like this, do that, load of bollixology if ya ask me sorry if i offend but thats the way i am.

People follow Jesus and Buddha and people like them because they have ways to live a happier life. I don't wanna argue about this so I'll just say that Buddhism has made me look at the world differently and made me happier with life and **** anyone who says that it's stupid or not worth doing...

And yes, religion has done bad stuff for the world I'm not gonna lie, but so has drinking and smoking but people still do it because it's awesome and fun

Fast food is absolutely horrible for you but it tastes good...You could break a bone or die from mountain biking but it's fun...blah blah blah the list goes on

sorry if I came off a little harsh, I've been really irritable lately for some reason..
