I know what you mean.
Every place I've worked I've been mistaken for "above everyone else".
I think it's part of our body language, as we don't fit the typical "shy" mold - we may be angry that we can't get through to people & that shows, plus it's mixed w/the whole not joining in with others thing & together it comes off as being 'snobby'.
All the ordinarily lightly-shy people I've seen just sort of duck their heads & smile and seem otherwise approachable.
I don't know if I put that across right, but y'know?
