oh yea.. I love when there is an animal around because then I can focus a lot of my attention on the animal, and not carrying a conversation.

I scratch my neck & face a lot, check my pockets constantly, pretend to be calling someone, crack my knuckles. I tend to walk really awkwardly because I get worried that people think I'm walking funny, I never know what to do with my hands so I like to be carrying bags :)

I play with my hair constantly!! I´m either picking the dead ends or scratching my head. Sometimes I don´t even realize I´m doing it!

I'm sure there are others but here are the ones I can think of at the moment:

I avoid making eye contact. It takes a conscious effort on my part for me to actually look at someone when they're talking to me.

I often don't acknowledge people. People are understandably offended by that as they don't know why I have seemingly "ignored" them.

I sometimes pretend to be tired or asleep when I'm feeling particularly anxious.

I clasp my hands together, interlace my fingers or otherwise fidget.

I pretend to be intensely interested in things e.g. my phone so that I can pretend I haven't noticed people and/or avoid socialising.

All these and...
Forgetting to grab something because I want to get out of a shop/place. Ive left behind valuable items at work because of this. Also I nearly left a new moblie phone in a McDonalds once, before I thought 'oh shit' and went to get it back. I looked like such an idiot...

Sometimes If I need to ask for something, ill just stand there for 10 mins, waiting until they are doing absolutely nothing, or just mutter it if they take too long.

If I see a group of people (especially teenagers) walking down one path, and there is a much longer, alternate path, I will take the other path every time.

Dont actually listen to what people say when im nervous. This is because my mind is somewhere else though. So I guess what they just said. Its so embarrassing if I am wrong, ill think about it for the rest of the day. Better than asking for a repeat 5 times though. Lesser of two evils

Often wipe my mouth on my sleve, and sometimes my nose, which is real bad. Once again a lesser of two evils case, its better on your jumper than your face for some reason. Maybe because all normal people look at your face and not so much your jumper.

Talking to myself.

I sometimes wont say hello if someone says hello to me. Especially if other people are around cause you look like a tool if you reply to something not aimed at you. But if it was you they were talking to, you still look like an idiot. Yet again lesser of two evils.

i'm like that, too. its embarassing especially at work, because when i'm being given a list of instructions, or having explained to me how to do something, i'm not paying attention. then i have to figure out later, what to do. even if i asked them to repeat it, it wouldnt be any use because i still woulnt be able to pay attention.
often a person tells me something, and a few seconds later i ask them about what they've already just told me, making it obvious i wasnt listening. thats embarassing.

also i tend to agree with whatever the person i'm with is saying, if i dont know them well. it seems safer than getting into a disagreement if i dont know how they'll take it.

FUCK OFF BILLY

wtf?

Anyway I stare at the ground a lot, because I think people will think I am looking at them if I stare straight ahead. Avoid answering the phone on bad SA/SP days. Avoid some people I know on bad SA/SP days, also I put my hands up to my face if I feel I may blush.

I do that too! It's only when I'm in a public place and I'm feeling uneasy. But, I will have a conversation! And what's really lame is that my "conversations" are all the same! They usually consist of: "Oh my gosh! I don't know why he/she said that! What a jerk!" And then I go on from there, making it all up as I go!

Why are you mad at Billy? He started a good thread!

I check my zipper all the time, too. Usually after a restroom visit and because I'm like a damn dude! I leave it down all the time! This Seriously BUGS me! I finish at the toilet. Pull up my jeans, button the top button and leave! WTF! I forget to zip... All The Time! So now I check, repeatedly, after each bathroom visit. :)

Here are some things I do when I'm around people I don't know:
1. Pick at any sores on my hands.
2. Scratch my nose, cheeks, or ears(even when they're not itchy)
3. I rub my eyes.
4. I carry SOMETHING to read to pretend I'm far too occupied for small talk.
5. I stare at the ground ALOT to avoid eye contact.
6. I fidget with my fingers.
7. I try fixing up my hair(even when its in order).
8. I look around my surroundings to act too curious to speak.
9. I rest my head on one of my palms/fists as if I were bored(but I'm just anxious as hell!).
10. And sometimes I talk to myself so people think I'm crazy.
There's lots more habits than those, but fortunately I can't name them at the moment. :)

touch my face

If I am sitting on the subway I often rest my head on my hand and pretend to look tired.

Check my cell phone (subway)

Play tetris on my cell phone (subway)

Pretend I have something else to do, and walk away while the person is talking. (work)

Look too busy to talk. (work)

Stare off into space, not want to talk. My boyfriend loves to talk, especially when we go out. He gets upset when I space out on him.

Ha ha, I'm going to do that!

Me, I fidget with my hands (e.g., touch my nose, rub my hands) looking autistic like - very embarrassing. I also sort of freeze like a deer in headlights when someone is talking to me, and try to say whatever I'm supposed to say using the least amount of words.
