So my brother HAS to work on 12/21.
Everyone on the police force has to be at work on Friday, no exceptions. They are going to be posting officers at every school in the area. My brother was not specific and said "he didn't know why" - but it might be due to the recent school shooting, and/or the 'doomsday thing'

^oh I know, I'm not worried about it, but the fact that he nor anyone can not NOT go to work and he is already assigned to be in uniform at a school
it's just strikes me as weird that the whole force HAS to be on duty. The only other time this happens is once every year on New Years and that's only because we live in a 'tourist town'

THey probably have a good reason for being on duty on 12/21. There will probably be people breaking into banks, robbing stores, getting high, and committing other crimes - all trying to end their lives with a Bang before the world ends. I don't believe the world will end on 12/21, but there are people out there who think so.

it is most likely the shooting and the doomsday thing. people who think the world is going to end might do some really really stupid things, i hope he takes care and is ok xxx

I don't think it's because some people believe the world is going to end but some people are just stupid and need to do something to create panic on that day.

It might not be the end of the world, but it will definitely be the end of my faith in humanity if that happens.

after working the 911 console and dispatching police, fire, and EMS on September 11, 2001, December 31, 1999, and numerous other New Years Eves, Halloweens, St. Patrick's Days, Chicago Bulls championships, full moons, solar eclipses, whatever..., i can safely tell you that a great number of people will use any lame excuse they can think of to go out and do some stupid, crazy stuff that might hurt themselves or others

I was talking with him this morning and more police are going to be @ casinos, all schools, malls, hospitals & movie theaters here.

They're monitoring social network sites, etc.

He's even leaving a gun with me "just in case" any rioting or such happens.
People are nutty!

I personally can't wait to wake up Dec 22 & it be just a normal day.

Weird. No one in my country seems to be bothered by this. The media talked about it a couple of times long ago, but in a joking manner.

I guess we have better things to worry about.
