The negative thread

I bought two pairs of pyjama pants the other day and I just realized I bought one style in a large and the other in a medium. Wtf? I thought I grabbed the same size. They seemed okay in the store but now that I've tried them on again, the smaller one fits a little better in the waist the but the larger one fits better in the ass. They're the same brand. Now I'm pissed off. That bugs me. I really wish I had tried them both in both sizes but I didn't even know they were two different sizes. Grrr!! I don't know what the hell to do now. Maybe I should go back and see what fits better and exchange one if I have to, but it's across the city, which is a pain. I might just keep them. They're both decent, but I really think it's gonna bug me not knowing if another size would have fit better.

It's never really surprised me why humanity is so screwed up. Me being a Christian, I do think that we live in a world of sin and Satan is an extremely powerful jerk that brings evil into people's hearts and makes them do bad stuff.

All I can really say is I'm not surprised at all the violence and destruction in the world.

A fellow classmate in junior high once asked a great question in class, it was, "What is the point of living?"

Yeah, if you think about it, there really isn't much a point, is there? Most people wind up working for most their life at some job they can just "handle" (aka they don't love it) so they can make enough money to afford shelter, food and other stuff that isn't even mandatory.

I'd say the world is both positive and negative, yes, I'm a realist. There is joy and happiness in the world if you stop and find something that pleases you. I don't even have friends and have found ways to enjoy life, so it's possible.

When I look at life, do you know what I see? I see something we can't control. We are here not by choice. We are just here and there isn't much more to it.

I think society fails to recognize what can't be controlled. All they see is what compares to what they THINK they would do.

We may be in control of certain actions, but who we are is who we are.

Two weeks after, looking back, I realize; The last 2 and a half seasons of Lost totally piss me off. I'm going to tell you why. It's going to be a rant.

[spoilers]When it started it was such a gem. A great survival/paranormal/mystery mix. By the end it was almost completely science fiction and ancient magic crap, followed by events that felt very cheap and weird. It left such a bad taste. And that wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take so gosh darn long to put that taste there.

(Though I have to admit I found the short time travel bit fairly cool.)

And what was up with the character development? I agree with the statement that it was largely a character study, but in the process they got rid of almost all likable characters. Okay, hold on. Achem~

They bastardized Micheal, Walt disappeared cold turkey (without ever being explained why he was so gosh darn special), Charlie is dead, not only is Locke dead; he tries to commit suicide, gets killed instead, we get teased that he's alive, oh no wait it's just evil incarnate. Fun. Nice. What else, Claire is homicidally crazy, Daniel is shot, Sayid turns into a weird zombie, background survivors get killed by mystery arrows, Sun is a cooperate badass now, Rose and Bernard just kinda tell everyone go f' themselves, Daniele is shot just like that, Alex is killed in cold blood.. and I'm probably forgetting a few.

Counting only the strictly likable characters, in the end we had Hugo, Jack, Desmond, Sun/Jin (even though they got killed for a d'aw moment too), and Ben (whom has remained true to his character description throughout the show; complex and interesting). You can't have a character study show when it's extremely heavy on sci-fi, moves like a train, flips and turns all the time and has almost no likable characters anymore. It became very weird very fast.

You know the only character that hasn't gone through any weird and strange character changes almost deemed impossible or suddenly died when he became inconvenient to write for? Freakin' Vincent. The dog. Best damn character on the show.

What perhaps pisses me off more is the route they took to the end. I was very fascinated by the first appearance of the man in black and Jacob. But when the time came around to explain their background, I was disappointed. The characters felt hollow, cliche and vague for what they're supposed to represent. They're the cause and center of the whole show. Not only did they drag down these two specific characters, they also dragged down the fascinating element of the island.

I adored ''The Monster'' as just that, a creature capable of judgment by reading a person's thoughts. Finding out he was actually a person that was angry at his slightly older brother for grounding him was more then a little disappointing. And then we have Jacob. The person that is supposed to give you all the answers, seeing as the island is sort of his domain. Except that he's one of those character that never really tells you anything. Which you think would be a priority WHEN YOU'RE PICKING YOUR SUCCESSOR TO PROTECT THE MAGIC ISLAND SUPPOSEDLY KEEPING THE PLANET SAFE FROM GREAT OVERWHELMING EVIL. But whatever, what do I know.

This shows start with 46 people whom you hope will get off the island. Some die, as is expected. And then more die. And more. And more. Then you end with merely a hand full of them, of which a few likable enough to cheer for. That's kind of a bummer. And no, getting together in purgatory and catching the train to heaven together is not exactly to most satisfying end to those that aren't strictly religious. It's cute, but not an end to a show that's almost 100 hours long (not even counting the weeks waiting in between).

Don't get me wrong, I love the show and it's up there with my favorites. I just really dislike how they changed the whole feel of the show over the course of the last 3 seasons.[/spoilers]

And that's why the final 2 and half seasons tick me off.

This is one of the sh*ttiest summer I've ever had. Stuck in a situation I don't know how I'll get out of, feeling abandoned, hopeless....just miserable.
I'm sorry Vamp. I hope things get better. If you ever want to talk I'm here.

Do real monogamous relationships exists?
if even 10% were really monogamous I would be surprised, people are just too selfish for one to really work, they just dont give a rats ass, they only want what gives them pleasure at the moment.

if it's true that human beings are unable to be monogamous, it seems confusing to me that they should all be judged so harshly for living according to their own inherent nature

it'd be like criticizing an iguana for not being able to ride a motorcycle

I agree with you - but I think people should be judged harshly when it comes to polygamous relationships, mostly because people who indulge in such behaviour do so in secret and without consent (which is illustrative of the guilt they may be feeling - if they knew it was OK, then it wouldnt be a secret) - As long as its all out in the open and everyone knows whats going on - then no, they shouldnt be judged - it's their business and no one has the right to say otherwise.

It's only when it is underhanded, secretive and sneaky it becomes wrong. People are hurt, lied to, betrayed and disrespected - quite simply its just a crappy way to treat others.

And I totally agree with blackpuma about Lost.

I can't shake the feeling that there's something wrong with me, it just keeps creeping back. And I've been too lazy to try to figure out why. Things just aren't making sense right now. Or maybe they don't and I'm making problems where they aren't there, I've just been spending too much time alone, I feel a lot better in some peoples company. Blarg. Also the US is too big, we should remove some of the states and send them to Canada.

I've heard that it's unnatural to have a lifetime monogamous relationship, but that's how it is. I feel that if you're not ready to have a monogamous relationship, don't get married. Having sex with multiple partners is not against the law and it's natural, but if you're married, then that's it.

Come to Australia. Slightly smaller than the US and with only a fraction of the population!

If their nature is lying and deceiving it isnt harsh enough.

I'll put that on the other coast - or on second thought, that sounds like the perfect place to live! :D
If you enjoy the heat and can get food and water, go for it! Do a satellite view of Australia and there's lots of places you could go. :)

The trouble is that too many people are led to believe that getting married is just what you do. Many people really aren't cut out for marriage, for one reason or another, but they settle and do it anyway. That's why a lot of marriages don't work out.

Yeah, I'm absolutely not cut out for marriage - at least, not yet.
