The chat box!

So i cant seem to talk in the chat box, but i can EASILY say what i need to say when its on a thread, i don't know why but I can't talk in the chat box, maybe because it's live and requires me to answer things as quickly as possible without thinking about what I'm saying much
and also i feel like I'm intruding into someone's conversation.. and there's usually a lot of people
But anyway, all i would like to say is "Hi" to all the people in the chat box, even though this is my way of cheating

Just say hi and intervene. You'll see it's no big deal once you get into what's being discussed.

I've tried several different SA chat rooms and every time I can only think of two things to say, 'hello,' and 'goodbye.' Now that doesn't really qualify as a chat now does it?

I agree, fully thought out discussions are pretty much impossible in the chatbox. That's okay though, It's merely a chat. I like to think of it as a social situation simulator, preparing me for the real thing while in the presence of good, understanding people

Threads, on the other hand, give you the opportunity to fully express your ideas. Unfortunately the ideas are easily accessible for a long period of time, making them easy targets for inane criticism. If the ideas presented are even somewhat unusual, you can be certain that Dr. Semantics will come along to argue at some point.

I'm the same way. If someone addresses me in there, i'll say hi or answer their question but for the most part-i stay out of there. ::

Threads like you said are for discussion whilst chat is just casual talk. I find it more exerting to reply to a thread at times.

Please don't be afraid of talking in the chatbox. I'm on the chat box all the time and sometimes there's no one to talk to in there. Just come in and start talking. I'll talk to you about anything, so don't be afraid to talk in there.

Interrupting? You'd merely be interrupting sheer chaos. Any way that you decide to enter couldn't be any less graceful than my original entrance. XD

There's never really anything specific going on in the chatbox, most of the time. It's just people saying random things because they have nothing better to do.

Are you afraid? Don't be afraid to try it. If you want to make small talk with random people, just jump right in. Sometimes I'll type on there, sometimes I won't. It depends on my mood. But once I got over my initial hesitation it wasn't too bad.

So if you really want to join in, then join in. Don't let your fears hold you back!

And yes, saying "Hi" in a thread instead of the chat box is cheating and will not count. So I guess you'll just have to say it in real time.

Will i mess up and offend people? Will they not respond... and not want to talk to me?
