Here's the thing, we all love music. And we all have our fave bands. And most of us want others to like them too. Not everyone is going to like the music we like, obviously, but there are those who might... if we expose them to it the right way. What the hell am I talking about? Even our fave bands have stinkers. Or our fave songs from our fave bands may mean more to us than they would to someone else. So you have to be tactful as to how you introduce others to them because not everyone has the patience or attention span.
So here's my idea/challenge to you all. I want you to list your top 3 bands. Then list the top 3 songs from each band that you would choose as best representations of them to those who aren't fans (yet). Remember, don't pick something so obscure that it alienates everyone but you and the few who "get" that particular song. Think of these 3 songs as diplomats. Their job is to be advocates for the band's sound. Say to people: if you don't like these 3 songs, then you won't like this band. And if they don't, oh well. At least you tried! Remember, these aren't your three favorite songs. These are the three you think best represent the band. And ONLY three. My thread, my rules! ::
The Brian Jonestown Massacre
1. Nevertheless
2. The Way It Was
3. Nothing to Lose
The Soundtrack of Our Lives
1. Sister Surround
2. It Ain't Free (Livin' in a Bubble)
3. Ten Years Ahead
Drive-By Truckers
1. Two Daughters and a Beautiful Wife
2. Feb 14
3. Heathens
