Teeth grinding

I have on occasions tasted blood from clenching my jaw.

I tried chewing gum to keep me from clenching but that made it worse.

If I ever can afford it I will go to the dentist for a mouth piece.

Since I've already got sleep apnea it will look silly going to bed with a nosemask and a mouthpiece. I used to have corneal erosion and slept with an eyepatch as well. I am considering getting earplugs to complete the whole set of disorders.

all these teeth topics ...an area I can actually speak about with confidence.

ok so grinding:

before you go to bed, use a heating pad on your TMJ(that's temperomandibular joint or the spot where you can feel your jaw bones open and close) try to keep the heat on there for at least 30 minutes. then gently massage the muscles for about 5 minutes or longer if you can. When you wake up in the morning do the exact same thing you did the night before. Think of your jaw as a machine...it needs to be warmed up before you start using it. So do it before breakfast.
The more often you can use that heating pad the better. It won't stop you from clenching and grinding but it'll control the pain that comes with the tension.

GET A NIGHT GUARD. Get the kind for your lower jaw rather than the palatal nightguard...you'll just spit that one out while you're sleeping.

if it gets really bad, there are non-addicting muscle relaxers out there you can take at night and they won't knock you out or drug you.

if you don't get the grinding under control, you'll end up needing the damaged teeth extracted...

Hope this information helps.

Interesting! Thanks for that advice, I am going to try it!

I don't have a problem with my jaw hurting or anything (yet) my main problem is that mainly my bottom 2 front teeth constantly get ground down to ****en stubs and i have to go to the dentist and spend hundreds of dollars to get them bonded (they attach fake tooth stuff to them to build them up to how they should be) but they never fix the underlying problem of me grinding my teeth so basically I am constantly going back to the dentist to get him to fix my teeth cause i keep wearing them down.

too bad i'm not a beaver or similar creature who's teeth constantly grow and NEED to be worn down to avoid health problems.

It's funny you should mention that,my two bottom teeth are now chisel tipped. And yes, your point is a good one,I know I can go to the dentist and have my teeth beautified and restored but how long will they stay that way?

I don't think this is anxiety related, but I have a really bad habit of listening to music or even having a song stuck in my head and grinding my teeth in time with it. I think it's just because I'm a really fidgety person so I'm constantly tapping my feet and snapping my fingers and that. I try and stop myself when I notice it but it's kind of subconscious.

Have you considered a set of mini-drums?
It's basically a mini drum-kit.
I think the products novelty factor size may well provide you with a therapeutic outlet.

Hmm, never thought of that. But it won't help much if I'm out somewhere, walking around, and I suddenly realize I'm grinding my teeth.
