So I've come to realize ...

... that I don't actually have any friends, and nobody really cares about me.

On Facebook for instance - I've noticed that likes and comments and what not are given based almost solely on who you are and what your perceived social status is. I can posts songs/links to my profile and get no feedback, yet someone else can post the same thing and get 10+ likes! How is this possible? ::(:

I really shouldn't be caring so much about it, but unfortunately Facebook and social media comprise the sign of the times, and without either I'd be left further behind.

I had a similar problem and it was not only bringing me anxiety but uneccesary stress. So I just decided to delete my facebook, Its been deleted for almost two months and I feel tons better.

But if I delete it, there goes any ties to a social life of any kind. No-one uses phones or whatever anymore, it's all Facebook. Like I said, you don't have it, you're left out.

And that'll just make things worse ...

but by the way you talk about it, you are getting left out even with it. The same thing used to happen to me too, so I stopped posting things. I still have facebook but use it only for the chat, even though I barely talk on it

Seems to me that Facebook is optimized for the outgoing, life-of-the-party types who have the personality to say things people wanna hear - a personality that can only be achieved by a good social upbringing, which I never received.

I never use FB, its never appealed to me. I only use my phone if i have to. Your social life can come from many different avenues. Not that i have much or any kind of a social life, but i do thing like, play basketball, go to cafe's and read, go for walks, draw, go to concerts, usually alone these days, but sometimes i talk to other people at these places that has nothing to do with using the internet. If that makes sense. FB is just a website. MSN is just as valid in my opinion and is a bit more private to.

Yeah either the outgoing, the gullible, bandwagoners (maybe a bit harsh). It's great if you have a nice group of close friends. I'd use it if i had that going on. I did have that 5 years ago, but for my situation now it's of no use. So my opinion of it is fairly bias.

It's a little hard to believe that Facebook used to be exclusively for college students. Then it became available to high school students (which was around the time I first got one). All these social networking sites seem to start out as a way "to keep in contact" with friends and family, but they quickly turn into virtual popularity contests and school halls.

I've thought about deleting my Fb, too, but I've refrained because while the majority of my time on it is just pointless, I HAVE made some good use out of it and ended up making arrangements to meet up with friends. So I keep it around.

I have two main facebook accounts-- one for family and people I know irl, and one I use for people I've met on forums, etc. I get lots of "likes" and replies from the second account I mentioned and few on the other (though I rarely post to the other anyway). I wouldn't keep facebook either if it weren't for my second account.

Sounds like a good idea except I can't bare keeping in touch with old 'friends'. That was a part of my old life I fought so hard to forget. As for account with online friends I don't have many either so its not required.

Good thinking though to separate those who need can do this :)

For the longest time I didn't use my facebook, all the friends I once had did not talk to me on it, and I would just browse occasionally becoming jealous of everyone's situation in life and disappointed with my own. I've lost interest in a lot of the games I once played to keep me entertained, so I find myself on facebook a lot more than I used to. At least the people I haven't made an effort to talk to for YEARS will occasionally comment on the things I post.

I hate Facebook because I'm emberrassed about my own uneventful life.

Recently a friend from childhood that I haven't seen in maybe 15 years wrote me a message how I'm doing on my wall but I just can't answer it. I don't like lying or making stuff up, but I also don't like saying I'm depressed off my a$$ to people I haven't spoken to since forever.

I just created a facebook to join my Course's facebook page as you can ask any questions you're stuck on, and I did that with a false name too, I don't have any friends. it's laughable lol

I have never had facebook and never plan to have one, because its a social networking site I am just not social andit would be quite odd if I got one and started talking to everyone then in real life I don't so nope not gonna get one :)

I quitted Facebook purely because I didn't use it but when I went onto my HND, I was missing a lot of important notices from class like trips etc so I joined up again and joined our college group so I wouldn't miss out.

The only reason I really use Facebook is games though, how sad does that sound! ::eek:: I'm even added strangers to play because it's not like I post anything really personal on there.
