Should I just let it go?

Yesterday my brother's friend invited me to his halloween party. I'm not one to go out to parties...or anywhere for that matter, he knows this, so he said he'd stay by me the whole night and he'd take me home whenever I wanna leave. After hours debating I finally decided to go.

I had a costume from the previous year that was never used (my mother said my cousin would invite me to his halloween party last year... Yeah, that never happened). So I was all ready. My mother drove me there (I had an anxiety attack in the car, regretted my decision... but my mother convinced me to go... said I'd have fun).

So I get there, knock on the door, he answers (the door leads straight to the living room) so when he opens the door I step in, look inside (can you guess what happened next?). I'm standing there, I'm the only one wearing a costume, I stand there (for what seemed like an hour) frozen in embarrassment. Everyone burst into laughter... I'm about to cry. They're all laughing their *** off, they thought it was hilarious.

Oh but the worst part isn't over yet. I finally turn around walk out. I'm at about the third step when something hits my back... Pumpkin guts... They're all throwing pumpkin guts ay me (I believe there was a few eggs in there too), I started crying and ran home. I'm still crying.

It's so freaking unfair. Stuff like this ALWAYS happens to me. I'm a really nice person, I am. I don't know why everyone hates me. When you read this do I come of as a b*tch or something?

Should I just let this go? Maybe it's not their fault, maybe I'm just a big joke to everybody.

Any comments would be appreciated.

They probably don't understand the kind of pain that was caused. You have nothing to lose from letting it go, but I doubt it's really that simple. Regardless, they weren't justified in doing it.

WTF!? How old are you, if you don't mind my asking? I can't imagine adults doing something that horrible...at least not a group of adults, generally.

You know what, THEY should be embarrassed. Who goes to a Halloween party and doesn't dress up? Sounds like you're the only one who was actually intelligent enough to understand the drill. You are NOT a joke. They were inconsiderate and rude.

You should try to let it go, because obsessing over it won't undo it, unfortunately. They're going to remain the way they are because you can't really fix stupid all that well. Try not to dwell on it - do something you like to keep your mind distracted. Or go the other route and complain to somebody you trust (or to us) to get all your emotions out so that you can relax.

I'm 16... So yeah they obviously aren't that mature. It's really my fault for trusting him though.

Did he set you up on purpose? Either way, it's not your fault. You had no way of knowing and you did something completely innocent - you accepted an invitation to a party. People do that all the time, how were you to know that you'd be walking into a war zone? The last think you need to be doing is blaming yourself.

Typical modern day teenager idiocy... If that happen to me, i don't know what would have happen. I have a lot of bottle up anger in me, and if something like that would've happen... Let just say that i'll probably end up in the hospital with quite a few other people. I mean really reading that already makes me angry...

I wouldn't let it go that easily... make him/her suffer.

Gotta wonder what kind of sick minds take pleasure from that kind of mental assault. I hope your brother has a word with him, not much of a friend...

Too bad I wasn't there... I would have slapped someone :/ What a bunch of immature idiots and cowards with nothing better to do...

I know you feel bad, but these people are at fault if you are crying now... and they are the immature ones here. Don't blame yourself, you didn't know they would do such a horrible thing... No one with half of a brain would think of doing something like that.

So do I. It's very hard to control anger sometimes. But you really need to. Can't let it control us. Easier said than done though but it is more beneficial in my experience.

And I forgot to add... You are not a big joke to anyone! If these kids are bored, they should go watch some porn or throw eggs at each other instead of bothering you. No matter the circumstances, no one has the right to do such thing. It's not funny. It might be "funny" to them but just because they are stupid bullies...

My brother was there. He seemed to think it was pretty funny.

Well I cant say for sure, because I wasnt there, but I am pretty sure he was hurting too, even if you are not close or fight a lot with a brother/sister,it hurts when people make fun of them and you cant do anything, also this was not your fault kids at that age are ****ing devils and most will do anything to fit in.
