Random overwhelming depression

I have always been the miserable, introverted kind, but never really had any relation to depression.

I was wondering if others get a random depressive feeling that can last an hour, a day a few days, and be completley unprovoked.

I highly doubt i'm bipolar or anything as this is very uncommon for me.

I'm just interested to see other perople's experiences in this area.

Thank you. :)

Well, I sometimes get it if I haven't eaten, or I've eaten someting iffy (that I better wouldn't).

Check if it could be related to blood sugar levels. Or any other 'triggers'?
Or too much computer or such? Or bad indoor air or such?

I know what you mean, usually to curb this I tend to occupy myself. Though I can be pretty self destructive, not necessarily serious, but I tend to binge eat, self harm maybe, txt people long drawn out txts. I feel pretty bored and alone, sometimes suicidal. It can go on like this for hours. I feel restless, I can't stop moving and I can get really anxious.

Yes i get these feelings, as of late very very often. I have always had massive struggles with feeling happy and just generally ok. The depressive feelings come seemingly out of no where and just crush me - this happened quite badly a few days ago and honestly i haven't been able to pull myself back together. What is most horrible about it i find, is most others don't understand these feelings so i just have to hide myself away and frankly act like a closed off lunatic and push everyone away... well i don't "have" to i suppose, but it seems like the best idea for me.

i dont have acute depression like yours, mine is chronic always there. i guess it stems from self hatred. although there are times when my depression is worse than others, im up and down, but i never feel ok really.

oh, no...
I only feel clear headed and content for maybe a few minutes of the day-- the rest of the time I'm depressed so I haven't experienced what you have in the same way.

I do agree with Feathers, though. A sudden spike in mood can be caused by low or high blood sugar levels or hunger.
If you ever feel weak and depressed, it may be a case of anemia.
