Yeah~ well, I assume he saw it coming since he resigned a short while ago.
Hopefully he went peacefully and without much regret.

Best of luck to his family and friends in this difficult time.

I didn't hear about it until I arrived to class this morning I saw a journalism student asking people from my class (computer science) about it. This man was a genius, he changed the world for better. Rest In Peace.

first Lady Gaga now Steve Jobs

not helping my ocd at all!

Although i have never bought/owned an Apple device (more a PC guy myself), i have always appreciated the technical-wizardry (& the smooth user-friendly interfaces) that is in Apple's products, and was curiously saddened today upon hearing the news. End of an Era for sure.

But at least he got his beloved iTablets out before he left - 20 years in making, he'd be very happy about that.

And i'm sure he was ready to "tackle head-on" the next stage of his journey .. it sounded like he had made peace with death, and was ready for it.

So long, fellow tech guy...

Yeah, I was very surprised when I heard about it too.. Don't own apple products, but still respect Steve Jobbs and admire his work.. Very beautiful design etc.

Interesting article, I didn't know that... I've read that in some places in China working conditions have been really problematic... In some places people work for 10+ hours a day, 6 days a week.. for very low pay... with only one-year contracts.. One also wonders about chemicals used in the making of these gadgets, and the work procedures/work safety... Some stuff in electronics can be very toxic... (and some toxics can influence health & mental health too!) so I hope they improved the working conditions over there!!

Since liver is the place that processes toxicity, I also wonder if Steve Jobbs was exposed to any iffy chemicals while developing prototypes, or was it from something else? He was still soo young...

Apple was one of the 'good guys' environmentally I think, they took it into account when designing things, though I still wonder about the full lifecycle (and worldwide takeback) of their products...

I do hope that maybe his death at such a young age can maybe also be inspiration to make electronics even more environmentally friendly and health-friendly!!

hm, he also gave people opportunity to make some money, there's LOTS of poverty in China too... government thus has actively invited foreign companies in, they've been closing doors a bit lately... some say he saved the music industry etc. It's not all 'black or white' - there are lots of shades of grey and all sorts of colors inbetween...

People in China are used to working 10 hours a day, 6 days a week... (which is sad, but many multinational companies have taken full advantage of that..) So it's not just 'one person' or 'one company', it's a whole system that needs to be improved...

I do agree many people have other things to worry about.. and most people have definitely too much stuff, yeah!! ipod/music on the go (eg when jogging etc) can be a good thing, it would be good if they were made safely though, and in good work conditions..
an ipod eliminates need for tons of CDs/cassettes so in a way it goes 'lighter on the environment' too.. provided they last long enough to be worth it, and if they're properly recycled..

Haven't had an ipod so don't know... someone I know online has had an 'accident' with it though.. a relative is very happy with hers, hmm (hasn't had it for long though)
