Popularity, self esteem, and self perception in a place like this.

I was way more popular in high school, when it actually counted to me so I'm cool with whatever. I have made what I'd call actual, genuine friends with a few people here and that makes me feel good. I really think I'm perceived better on here than how you all would perceive me face to face just by my looks and mannerisms. First, I think 90% of you wouldn't understand much of what I say due to a heavy southern accent. Second, people seem to be visibly sickened at the sight of a man who uses smokeless tobacco even though I seldom have to spit. It seems to just put people off. And lastly, my wife says my language is too rough for any decent people, also the fact that I'm very direct - I don't mince words with people and I don't sugar coat things at all. For all the above reasons I think I do much better at this internet thing and I don't do very good at this either I don't think but I try.
