I am depressed with the standards of people in my generation. how the goals for most today are "making money" and "getting laid". these aren't of my importance, though I have a nice job, but money most certainly does not pay for happiness. It pays for the wrong reasons: attracting people together who DON'T belong together, eventually leading into yet another divorce which usually hurts both involved. "getting laid" some how makes you a winner. If you are "making money" just to get laid, or "getting laid" just to boost your public reputation, then all I see when I look at you is a loser.

While I can sort of agree, I'm not fully on board because many people have different priorities in their life. I don't judge if someone enjoys sex and wants to get laid, as long as both parties are okay with it and nobody gets their heart broken.

People that behave that way only do harm to themselves. Try to accept people with their flaws and focus on living your own life the best way you can. You can't make anyone else change for the better and will only drive yourself crazy concerning yourself with the choices they have made in their lives.

It's maybe the standard for some people but I'm sure that there is a lot of people who don't really care about making big money or having sex with the best looking person, it's just that the other get more attention

I think we place far too much emphasis on sex and materialism.

That being said, sex is obviously a biological imperative, and monetary acquisition is essential to some degree. I just don't like the seemingly endless pursuit of money, and the cultural aspirations of being rich etc. I also think the mentality that people have, that sexual encounters are some kind of triumph, is just sad. The amount of people you've slept with doesn't say anything positive about your character.

I understand, maybe I tend to rant way too much about people ::(:

[QUOTEPopulationZeroI am depressed with the standards of people in my generation. how the goals for most today are "making money" and "getting laid".

I know! I was just talking about this in another thread. People love to judge a person on how many people a person is having sex with and how much money they have. Social and financial status are the two most judged things when people look at a guy, I believe. That and social confidence, which is correlated with social status in many cases.

these aren't of my importance, though I have a nice job, but money most certainly does not pay for happiness. It pays for the wrong reasons: attracting people together who DON'T belong together, eventually leading into yet another divorce which usually hurts both involved.

I don't have a nice job at all. I'm bascially minimum wage part-time like 10-15 hrs a week which is really bad. Even if I had a better job I don't think I'd be that much happier though, so I understand.

Yes, money is a huge factor in marriages. It's enormous. Many people will get married just because they have the cheddar to do it.

"getting laid" some how makes you a winner. If you are "making money" just to get laid, or "getting laid" just to boost your public reputation, then all I see when I look at you is a loser.

Then you see a lot of men as losers. A lot of men don't want to admit it but the main reason many men get up in the morning is so they can make enough money to get laid.

Yes, you are also right that many people get laid to boost public reputation. It's the same thing with money, many people try to get lots of money to boost public reputation.

Btw, so nobody tries to twist my words around, notice that i said many people and a lot of men.....not all.

I do not, because money and sex are nothing to me.

I don't have a nice job at all. I'm basically minimum wage part-time like 10-15 hrs a week which is really bad. Even if I had a better job I don't think I'd be that much happier though, so I understand.

aw i'm sorry to hear that. I hope things turn out great for you hopefully soon.

haha really? wow that's f**ked

I know this. and to be honest, I view most of the world as being lesser than me because of money. I know that is extremely arrogant and wrong to do, but I can't help it, hence this post.

I despise the vast majority of people my age. A lot of them are naive and selfish idiots. I should probably note that I'm in a bad mood today, but I've always felt not exactly on the same wave length with my generation for the most part.
