At the end of the day, freedom is just a word. I take life for granted, as do we all. We are all set by limits & boundaries, and we must chose how we navigate between the two. There are things I can’t do, and things I can, each one weighed with wrong and right. If we had true freedom, the world would be a hellhole. Do I take freedom for granted? I take what is available & what is acceptable. Do you understand the freedom you believe you have a right to?

Like Banvard's first comment, I think military being used to invade other countries of no direct threat to our country, or the US, is very wrong. And what is also sad is how people believe they are serving the country and making it safer, when all they are doing is playing out what the real controllers want to happen in the world.

I just skimmed through this thread and believe that we should stop commenting. All of us don't know everything, because we haven't lived through everything. So when we make ignorant comments like ALL soldiers rape, ALL countries will nuclear weapons are evil, or ALL communist countries are corrupt, we're just setting a long and harsh debate. My father has been in the military since the age of 17, and my mother was in the military for a few years as well (that's how they met, in fact- Coast Guard). I have friends who are now in the military (all branches), and it's really not the troops who are "corrupt", so to speak. It's absolutely impossible - perhaps with the exception of specific cults - to categorize people so strongly and negatively purely because of a group, class, branch, club, etc, that they are in. People own themselves, just like you own yourself. You suggesting that all troops are the same, especially in corrupt ways, is the same as me suggesting that all people who post their thoughts in online forums are smug and ignorant bullies.
