Haha, thanks! Yeah, it's hard to find people who are into classical music when we're bombarded every day with Miley Cyrus or Lady Gaga. Ugh. So you're cool. The drums was frustrating cause I just wanted to bang around and sound like Ringo! But I hated doing the boring exercises, so I stopped and switched to electric guitar after watching Hendrix. I can talk about music forever!
Maybe those who play an instrument, someone can start a thread and people post something they've learnt there? I'd love to do that when i get my lazy bum round to learning a FULL song.![]()
And lemme add I played bass in my school's talent show a few times, backing up singers.
I have a hard time with timing and beats, my math is horrible. In choir I had to hear the music first and memorize the flow and change of things because music notes and reading them were a loss on me. It was extremely difficult getting over it, with lots of patience from my teacher when it came to the piano. But I'm not talking about picking up on the the drums, I want to master them. Have you ever listened to Joey Jordison from Slipknot, he's sick.
i have nt heard him tbh. i heard a few of there songs and i did nt like. they re a bit to mad for me. if you look up youtube , you ll find a heap of lessons for drums , if u wanna master them , it ll take time and practice !!
have you ever played the violin in a small space where the sounds comes back to you krista? it doesnt have to be a shower, but the way the walls have tiles seem to make it better. maybe its just my imagination but i love the way that sounds.
there's a violinist named emily wells that composes all of the pieces she plays. because she records herself and the music plays on a loop, she can layer the music. granted she looks really stoned during alot of her performances, it still takes talent i imagine. ill post one of her songs in the music thread
i could only progress so far with the violin because i have an AWFUL sense of rhythm and beat, and the counting thing. thats what made playing with other people so hard to do. i never could get the timing right for more than 10 or 12 measures, seemed like. i still really like to mess around with the violin though. sorry this is so long!
I can't play anything, I have no talents.
Music is my life... too bad the only way I could make a living with it would be through teaching, but I have zero patience ::
I can play just about anything I pick up, although stringed instruments can be a pain- literally, it hurts my fingers too much. I played flute/piccolo in high school and college, and I have an acoustic guitar that's missing a string I've been too lazy to replace. If I had the money, I would love to buy a lot of different instruments and take lessons. I absolutely love the piano, and have always tinkered around on it- I can read the music, but I probably don't play it the "right" way, I have no idea what to do with the pedals, and my hands aren't exactly cut out for it- my fingers are too short. I took all the theory classes in college, I can play any tune I hear (I don't quite have perfect pitch though, just "relative" pitch, especially if it's diatonic).
But in addition to having no patience, I have no creativity, so creating my own music is out of the question... my attempts in school were awkward at best, although I followed the "rules." Music is still a great escape for me, even though it is frustrating to have the ear for it but lack the skills to do much with it.
i play piano, trombone, harmonica, trumpet, recorder and clarinet.
I wanna learn how to play the guitar... but I can;t seem to get to it, although I;ve always wanted to play the piano...
