I agree, but unfortunately there's a thing called human rights.

So by human rights, you are referring to a humans right not to be experimented on or tortured? For the sake of finding out if a product is safe for humans.
So what about animal rights? I don't understand the thinking behind the law that says it is an atrocity to experiment on (causing pain/injury) or torture humans, but it is acceptable to experiment on (causing pain/injury) or torture animals???

Pain is pain, torture is torture. Whether on Human or animal.

I don't know much about this sort of thing either but I sometimes wonder if they can bring out products which they claim have never been tested on animals then how much animal testing is really necessary and how much of it is just done just to keep down the costs of testing these products?

According to wikipedia,alternatives are
reliance on existing natural or synthetic ingredients, compounds and substances, which have already been extensively tested on animals;

avoiding novel ingredients or combinations of ingredients that have not been fully tested and may not be safe;

testing on human volunteers/clinical trials.

So I guess products that says it is not tested,uses a combination of chemicals that were tested before,also human testing is not really an option,if animal outrage is big,human would be much worse and yes we need drugs and similar, everyone who is not a lunatic can tell this,Anesthesia for surgery,vacine against rabbies,against venom and virus etc or should we let those people die?

I totally agree, i've seen some truly shocking things and most of it has nothing to do with medicine or improving human life. Surely there must be another way to test new drugs and things without putting innocent animals through such trauma!

IDK, do mice have emotional feelings? I haven't been around that many mice...

I know rats and other small animals do. They have feelings and personalities. I know that because I have had rats for years (and other little animals) and I spend a lot of time with them.

I think it's definitely animal abuse. I think they should be tested on humans. There are plenty of demented humans who would do just about anything & it makes more sense to test a human med on a human than on an animal. I wish the whole practice would be outlawed, especially when there are humans that would be willing.

No human life is worth more than a animal's life. If i was dying and i knew the medicine i was given had been tested on animals, i would refuse. My life is not worth more than these poor animals. Testing medications on animals should not be allowed.

Its a tough one.. many great advances have been made using unsavory techniques in the lab involving animals.

I really feel torn on this. I feel for the animals. But if your loved one, say your child was desperately ill, would you accept using medicines that were known to cure the affliction but had been tested on animals?

Veterinarian medicines are also developed using animals - for the benefit of animals.

So yea, If we can avoid unnecessary suffering, definitely.
But I also see the need for testing.

I oppose testing of cosmetics and recreational drugs like legal highs. But I see it as a necessary evil when testing medications and genetic defects and stuff. Most animal testing is in the final stages of testing. They usually start with microbes. Yeast is a good model organism because it is a eukaryote and has a lot of the same equipment as our cells but studying yeast can only get you so far. You can use mammalian cells that are grown in the lab to find out how it affects the specific target cell but it doesn't tell you if it has any negative effects in the rest of the organism. It takes quite a bit of paper work submitted to an ethics committee who will then decide whether your experiment is worth it before you can test on animals. In genetics we have to destroy the animal because it usually has some modified genetic material that could be harmful if it got into wild populations.
