Internet personality

Is your internet alter ego different from You in real life?

Mine definitely is. When I'm on the internet I pretend like my life is much better than it actually is. I make up **** about myself to impress other people on forums and in private conversations so that they wouldn't think I'm a total loser.

Is that River Phoenix on your icon? I like it.

I am more talk-a-tive online and share more of myself to total strangers so yes I suppose it's different than rl...

Yes, I reveal more about myself, I just feel more at ease, I can take my time replying, I'm definitely more talkative and I don't have to worry about the tone of my voice or anything.

Yes I definately talk more on the internet but my personality is similar to real life. The advantage here is I can get away with taking a long time to think of a reply.

I think pretty slowly, so I'm definitley more myself here then I am in real life. In everyday social life I barely talk. Here I can say A LOT, and still have time for a joke. Where in real life I only get to say a 7 word sentence every minute or so, separated by at least 7 seconds.

Many people just aren't patient enough for me.

Yeah, that you can take your time replying is really a huge advantage over real life. I constantly find myself thinking back to some conversation and coming up with great ideas on what I could've said but didn't because I was paralyzed with sa..

I-enternet, well, I am able to talk more.

Reality of it all: Shy, quiet, --- talk virtually non-existent with unfamiliarity ---> working on it.

Hmmm...but how do we know you aren't just making that up in order to impress us? ::p:

Depending on who I am around ;and those are very few people; my internet ego is much more real than my real life. I act "as if" when around people but sometimes embarrass myself.

Nah, I'm pretty much the same... I'm a fairly easy going guy who just basically says whats on his mind whatever medium it is.

I'm definitely different online. I don't make things up about myself, but I have a much easier time "connecting" with people online. Offline I'm awkward and usually very agreeable, like I'll agree with just about anything you say and just nod along when we're face to face. I've been in quite a few heated debates, if you can even call them that since it's just text, online but I can't remember the last time I argued with anyone offline.

I never go up and initiate a conversation with a woman offline, but I've chatted to a few gals online and met some of them offline eventually. Even after getting to know each other a bit online first I was still shaking like a leaf when I met them face to face.

I think online just = safe. A moment of uncomfortable silence online is simply when the IMs stop for a minute. Much less awkward than in person.

I think it's also far easier to engage people in various topics while online than it is to do offline. Online I don't mind telling people how I feel about politicians, offline I stay out of political discussions cause I'm going to appear clueless pretty quick.

I wouldn't say my internet personality is different, I just show myself more on here. In person I'm a little awkward, but mostly just quiet and I never say much. I always worry about how I say things, how I present myself to another person, etc. On here, I can express myself better without worry.

Unlike speech, I can actually type directly from what I think. So my internet 'persona' is a lot more open, will say a lot more, reveal a lot more. Hmmm.. other than that, it's not that different. If I were able to speak from thought, this is how I would sound, I figure

I am def more talkative online then in real life. I have made some good friends online which I had for over 5 years. I am more honest about my life online then I am in my personal life. I think what also helps is that the other person does not have to hang around or see what I am doing where in real life the other person may find that I am wierd.

Yeah, I mean I share what happens in my life and what I think about it at SPW. But out there I'm closed up. I just feel like I won't get judged here. A lot easier to think. Nobody can see me. But as far as my interests or thoughts go, they don't change here. All my hobbys here are the same as out there.
