I think I say "alright" too much...

Something I've realised recently, I use the word "alright" as a way to quickly cut-off a burgeoning conversation. For example:

How are you?
Alright.

How was your weekend?
Alright.

How has your day been?
Alright.

How have you found xxx?
Alright.

What was xxx like?
Alright.

What do you think about xxx?
Yeah, it's alright.

... and so on.

In retrospect, I have to say it's probably one of the fastest ways to end a conversation (without frankly ignoring the other person). :S

I tend to lengthen it to "all right", but similarly here.

Unless I'm having speech issues and I jumble the words to "alright", which does happen periodically.

I've been paying close attention to my phone conversations with my mother recently. My end of the line sounds like "hi, yep, ok, yep, uh huh, yes, ok, sure, yeah, ok, alright, bye."

I try my damnedest to not say "like," as it is the most overused word on Earth, IMHO, but it slips out, like in my second sentence. :)

I say Sorry all the time. It's much worse, since I sometimes seem to be apologising for things I didn't do.

I actually talk a lot, when asked a question, I'm probably boring. I tlak to the ceiling or anything else than the person I'm talking.

I musgt admit to ending sentences with sorry, questions and "did you have a good time, or?"

How are you?
I'm alright today, how are you?

How was your weekend?
I did a little bit of chillin at home, some more chillin outside, but it was alright, yours?

How has your day been?
My day has been mighty fine, lots of things i could be doing but it's been alright for the most part, how about yours?

How have you found xxx?
It sucked dick!

What was xxx like?
Xxx was alright, it could have been better but don't take my opinion to heart, everyone has their own opinions so maybe you will like it, hmmm?

What do you think about xxx?
Yeah, it's alright.

The bolded is how i handle those questions all the time, but take out Alright and put in "Ok" or "good", the odd time "great" but rarely because Great does not fit everything for me. Unless i say Greatly bad.... Or i'll just say it completly sucked, worst.movie.ever. etc. I'm trying to learn how to be more "fun" with my answers, because fun answers normally lead to fun conversations.

just say fine/alright thanks
this is how I'd say it, maybe a few tips:

How are you?
I'm fine thanks and you?

How was your weekend?
it was alright nothin special,

How has your day been?
it was fine nothin special, and yours?

How have you found xxx?
non of your business

What was xxx like?
it was alright

What do you think about xxx?
Yeah, it's alright.

simple as that, you dont need to make a big speech about everything, and yea its the best way to make a short conversation with someone, in a more polite way.

I am the master of short responses, unfortunately. My favorite is good, and I also like fine, okay, not bad, sure, yup, yes, no, nope, I don't know, *Shrug*, *Nod*, *Point*, *Gesture*, It doesn't matter, Whatever you want, *grunt*, *blank stare, *Smile*, and what most people hear - *mumble mumble*
