I hate alcohol

((hugs))

My Uncle has been sober for years now, and I simply adore him!!
The alcohol almost destroyed his life, and I'm soo glad he got it back on track... He's such a great person...
He still goes to support meetings - not sure if you might need that or could use that too?

Really keeping fingers crossed this works for you too..

Oh, okay... Good that you're not!!

I think you have to be used to drinking to pull it off well, and then lots of those 'outspoken' guys who 'can drink well' do become alcoholics (another uncle whom we adore, but but he just can't seem to get himself together...)
(We're a country in the top five in Europe, re: alcoholism, sigh..)

Maybe find something else that is interesting to do on weekends? Choir, drama club, chess club, Eurovision appreciation club? :)
Or just being home is cool too, yeah... :)

Agreed. It loosens the man's tongue to all of his truths, subconscious or otherwise.

Definitely true. I've heard people admit very disturbing things when intoxicated.

As for OP I just don't like being drunk that much. The feeling isn't appealing to me. I prefer herb myself.

I Hate the way alcohol can totally destroy a family that would not have been destroyed if the alcohol had not been introduced.

I love beer too. The problem I have with liquor in general is that it doesn't love me back.

I had this dilemma - drink to relax around people but become someone I wasn't, or be my anxious self.

The first and only time I ever got (accidentally) intoxicated was at a wedding about five years ago. We were about to salute the bride and groom and they served everyone these cups full of light amber liquid. I assumed it was apple cider and took a nice long swig until the cup was suddenly yanked away from me followed by my mom's screams. Don't remember much of what happened afterwards other than I felt like absolute s***

I honestly don't see why people love alcohol so much, especially after my little adventure at the wedding. It burns your throat and stomach, it makes you feel lightheaded in a not-so-good way, you act really stupid, and you feel like an absolute train wreck afterwards. Since when is it "cool" to be kneeling before a toilet, puking your guts out?
