hurt my back

I hurt my back today lugging around the little one - doing laundry, etc...
well, it felt like my back was on fire, it hurt that bad. When the mom came home I immediately handed over the kids and went to put a heating pad on my back and lie down.

Then I remembered I have DMSO.
I put some of that stuff on my back and it feels almost 100 percent better now.
Without medicine!

So, has anyone tried DMSO for their aches, pains, pulled muscles?

I've done my back in a few times. Codeine seemed about the only thing that dulled the pain. Try and keep active, you'll seize up if you lye still.

My ex-girlfriend's ex-husband allegedly dosed her with DMSO once. I don't recall the details, but she said it was pretty darned unpleasant, and I think there was some mention of permanent side effects.

Abbie Hoffman described an interesting use for it back in the sixties, but I don't believe I'd recommend his application. Not all LACE is created equal.

You do have to use caution when using DMSO. I wore gloves - my brother's industrial strength ones while handling it.

It was recommended to me by an old rodeo cowboy. A "real rodeo" guy. I guess they use it quite often as do some pro football people, other athletes.

While watching Dr. Oz one day, he had Dr. Andrew Weil on and he recommended DMSO as well.

As for me, No, I would not recommend everyone go out and buy it. I think there are other options out there..For instance, today I will not use it. Instead I am going to buy one of those Icy Hot pads and tiger balm for my back because on Monday I don't want to repeat the same thing. I can't take anything containing codeine as I am allergic, so that's out. There are like 30 hydrocodone pills my brother/SIL had from previous illnesses but I can't touch those things - I am allergic.

Personally, the smell is nasty, and I keep it under the sink (child safety lock in place) so it's kind of out of sight out of mind, and this is about my 3rd time using it. During the day, I had been taking the acetaminophen/ibuprofen on and off and I didn't think my stomach would take much more...so I resorted to DMSO. I was quite surprised as to how well it worked. That being said, No, I wouldn't recommend nor use it all the time like I've heard some people do. For me it's just one of those "I am in real pain, need quick fix" therefore I rarely use it.

But all in all, I think if one uses caution using it, and does not use it on a regular basis, only the quick fix kind, eh, I'll take the chance...well, for now.

Sorry, I don't know that. But such injuries are really annoying. A while ago, I crashed with my bike (didn't notice that there was a sheet of ice under the snow). At first, I didn't seem to have been really hurt, biked on and biked home after work. But then my left knee swell up, my legs started to hurt, my arm too, and I had some serious pain in my side. Took three to four weeks until that stuff vanished. Oh, I had also twisted my ankle two or three days later. -.- Sometimes I wish I'd have the body of a Neanderthaler: their bodies were so much better than ours... They could take a beating three or four times as strong as we could, without any serious injuries.
