How to avoid wasting time in front of a computer

Hello I was wondering what are some of the best way to avoid wasting time in front of a computer, mostly online. Normally I wouldn't care but i started to have pain in my right hand from typing and using a mouse too much. Now i switched hands even though it wasn't comfortable I still could spend time online. But now the same problem is appearing on the other hand. I spend all my days in front of a computer, I work in front of a computer and my program is computer related so all my classes are in front of one.

As you can see a computer is pretty much all my life. Every other interest i had before faded away since all i want to do is to be in front of a computer. One thing I hate the most is that even if i'm bored I still waste my time in front of it instead of finding something else to do.

I'm already not an out going person of nature but in winter I simply don't want to leave my house.

I'm sure many can relate and I recommend those who do to do your best to find something else to do instead or to try to greatly reduce your time in front of one.

Same here. No life = computer all day, even when I'm bored. Strange actually, cause some friends are still pushing me to get me out of the house. Too bad for them it's not working. I finally told a friend why I never go out with them. I didn't say everything, but already too much.

i like it too but not in winter, winter is always the peek period of my depression, I simply can't stand it

be active, push yourself to do something, but I'm in the same position, So I can relate. But playing guitar is a nice hobby, for example. Or painting, drawing, watching tv, reading a book, but still the computer is my fav thing lol :)

you nail the problem perfectly, there is other stuff to do but pushing myself to do it is the problem. being in front of a computer you just stay and you don't move much. I should try to get back in shape, restart drawing or write stories or maybe i should become a singer.. nah i leave that one to you

I am desperately trying to hold onto my videogame crutch but even that has 99% died and now I spend every waking moment on my laptop...

Commit yourself to recurring events that require you to leave the house.
Signing up for a weekly volunteering program that depends on your attendance to operate is a good example. Or lessons of some sort, if you have the money.

I would need years of training to commit to an outside activity :D
I really need friends that live close to me ::(:

I have to 'force' myself to play videogames these days. They used to be my life also up until I was about 21. I don't have the attention or patience like I used to...

I'm gonna go shotgun 3 beers and play some Gran Turismo 5.

People tell me to go out. I used to, but I just aimlessly wander the streets and waste money on potato chips. I usually end up in Maccas and leach the wifi internet until my laptop battery dies. Everyone is out there busy with Christmas, I'm at home doing nothing. I've got few friends and NO social skills.

That game is too much strategy for me, so I bought Star Ocean instead, I played it for an hour and haven't played since ;/ I wish I could be a hardcore gamer again.
