Very well said. You are right you never truly forget maybe move on but not forget. There apart of your life,part of what made you who you are today there is always a small part of them with you in some shape or form good or bad.

3 weeks is not a long time, though... it's like you've never had a taste so you are putting all your eggs into one basket- the first basket that finally comes along. remember, this is your FIRST... not the last. go out, meet women, get experience.

I've had crushes in the past, not any real meaningful love, and I would say the longest crush that I've ever had lasted around 3 years. Afterwards, the feelings started to fade. How long your feelings last and how fast they fade depends on the circumstances. I was in the same class as my crush for 2 years in high school, and I get to see him almost everyday, so that didn't help. The more I see someone, the less I forget about that person. After high school, I still had a lingering crush on this person, but we went to different colleges. After a year or so, the crush started to fade.

Not seeing each other face to face everyday does make the infatuation go away. Also, deleting the person as a friend on facebook, deleting the phone number, and not visiting any social media content belonging to the person helps too.

Awww, I thought this thread was more recent. Well I'm going to reply anyway.

It really depends on the circumstances surrounding the person. I suppose that part would be obvious. It also depends on what your life is like at the time - do you have a group of friends you can go out with to distract yourself and forget about the person? Or do you sit at home and think about person constantly?

I've found it's much easier for me to forget someone if I find other things to replace my thoughts about the person, things that I really enjoy and that occupy my mind completely. Otherwise I'll end up sitting around for hours and torturing myself. I've also become pretty good at not letting myself dwell on the person and the good times we had. It's become easier to consciously put it out of my mind.

But yeah, there is no metric for how long it takes to get over someone. It depends on your mental/emotional health, your lifestyle, your social interaction, how long you spent with the person, what role the person played in your life, etc.

after reading these comments here, I come to conclusion that never take anyone for granted. currently I'm talking to some girl that I like but deep down i know it wont work out so im chill. im prepared for the unthinkable so if all of a sudden she decides negating me then im ready for it.
