Hello!

Hi,

I’ve been lurking around this forum for a few weeks now - everything I type into Google seems to lead me here, lol. So yeah, I won’t give you my life-story, but I’ve not been officially diagnosed with SA; though I’ve always felt there’s been something odd about how anxious I get over certain situations. After reading through a lot of the threads on here, I can see a lot behaviour traits and symptoms I recognise in myself and I get the feeling I belong here somehow….

I have been diagnosed with axillary hyperhidrosis, and have recently undergone the botox treatment, which isn’t working out as well as I’d thought, much to my annoyance. Going to stay hopeful, but I’m not sure whether it’s a symptom of SA or what started off the SA in the first place. It’s all very frustrating and confusing.

Anyway, SA and sweatiness aside, I’m currently in my third year of an English Lit degree, blagging my way through, and I’m hoping do another degree in Speech and Language Therapy afterwards, which sounds a bit crazy, but I’m hoping that it’ll work out well. I’m quite into my drink, films, reading -- tend to spend a lot of my free time writing, drinking - sometimes at the same time; helps get the words out.

I do have group of friends at uni and work, but don’t feel comfortable discussing my anxiety issues with them, as I suspect this might change their view of me. Hopefully I can be a bit more open about stuff on here.

Well, that’s about all I can say for now -- look forward to talking you all. :)

Welcome :)

I also suffer from HH and so do several people on the forum.

I'm currently trying Odaban so I'll let you know how it works out for me :)

How long have you been having the Botox treatments for?

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. :)

Ignace: I ended up getting botox on my underarms as I've tried pretty much all the clinical strength antiperspirants out there, iontophoresis didn't do much and left me with electric burns and the ETS option didn't really appeal to me. :/

Emmaa: Odaban's one of the nicer ones - doesn't sting like the others. Hope it works out for you! :) I've only just started getting botox; took me about a year to chase it up on the NHS, but I managed to get the treatment about a week ago. I have to admit it has actually improved things, there's a definite reduction, so I'm guessing it might take a little bit longer to kick in properly - fingers crossed!

Welcome! :D

I too suffer from HH, mainly on my face and scalp.
Botox is an option for me and im surprised you managed to get it on the NHS. I've been told many times the NHS doesnt cover this... I may look into this again.
With regards to the botox, I know a few people who have tried it and it does take a few weeks to start working to its full efficiency(sp?)
Let us know how you get on with the botox!

Luke1993: Thanks! And most likely, lol.

xlisax: I had to keep pestering and pestering, and in the end I found out that there's only about 10-15 hospitals that'll do it on the NHS. I think there's a service they use which locates the nearest one, but I had travel quite far into the middle-of-nowhere for mine. I'd say it's worth it, even if it only makes a small difference. Definitely get pestering. ;)
