Friendships

I don't often post threads here but it occured to me that this is an important part of being a member of this community.

Some five years ago I found myself in an Al Anon meeting. I happen to be the grandson of an alcoholic, the nephew of an alcoholic, and the older brother of an alcoholic. That's why I go to these meetings.

Anyhow we were doing Step 4 and talking about Relationships.

It dawned on me that I didn't have any close friends in my life, and I had never felt comfortable with men.

So I set out, not deliberately , on a journey of learning about friendships and healthy connections with other men.

Is anyone interested to know what happened ?

ps. That was when I was 55 years old.

I was going to guess that he and these other guys started a secret group where they could indulge in bouts of fisticuffs with one another. But I'm probably wrong, so I too would be curious to know what actually happened.
