Isn't it a relief to know that people don't focus on us half as much as we think and we're just another person going about our business?

I feel the opposite like everyone is staring and I feel awkward.

Same here.

But it depends how you want to be noticed. Like admiring you? Cause people look at me, but i just get paranoid.

It's better to be invisible.

I wish I felt invisible, although I'm sure, being, or feeling invisible also had its downsides. I always feel like everyone is constantly staring at my awfulness everywhere I go, even though I know that is so not true. It makes it so uncomfortable for me to go anywhere.

I prefer it when people don't notice me so much.

I'm sorry you felt so alone in your moment of sadness on the train.

Hmm same here. I always feel that everyone is staring at me and judging the way I walk. I really have to make an effort to convince myself that I'm an invisible being among the mass.
If you cried, maybe someone noticed but didn't want to bother you. In a train, most people wouldn't dare, I think.
The others were too self-absorbed, as we all are most of the time.

If they see you, they probably can read your emotions to some extent (if they are looking at your face), but a lot of people wouldn't be bothered by how others are feeling, or if they are, then they don't know what to say / do. Just think about the times you would have seen a stranger that is angry versus a friend that is angry. Most people would react stronger to anothers emotions if they are close to that person. If you don't filter out other's emotions to some extent, then it is easy to get overwhelmed by the world. It's not being shallow, it's just that it is easier to only get involved if it directly affects them or someone that they personally know.

I don't feel that as I walk around. Not as much as I used to anyway. Maybe as I have gotten older I don't care so much. What does still bug me greatly is being Invisible when waiting to be served in a shop. Others being served; me being ignored.
