Do you think there is a social hirearchy on this forum?

I get the feeling that there are some people on here that are more popular than others. Its not even because they post more than someone else, it is just that they are more well liked and people say nicer things to them. I dunno, is it just me?

I try to be nice to everyone, except the trolls.

I agree to this too and it makes me sick... I am usually sidelined and i hate it... what makes it worse is that even on this website my posts dont get the attention i crave...

I don't think so... I just feel that some members here are more noticed because they often post or what they post are more interesting...

Wingcharm, i agree with the interesting part.. just feel too skeptic about everything these days and cos of excessive loneliness cant stand being ignored though there can be a hundred different reasons why someone doest give you attention...

This is definitely true. The attention seekers get the attention they want. While genuine people get ignored. It's no different to real society. I might as well just go into the middle of the street and talk to strangers about my problems instead, i'd get the same treatment! :?

That's one thing I've never understood. I see people everywhere desperately positioning themselves every day like their life depends on. I always think to myself, what a waste of time and effort! Or maybe that's because I'm happy being on the bottom rung? Think of what mankind could accomplish if they just spent 1/10 the energy they usually use trying to manipulate and cajole some people or ridicule and belittle others and use that energy for something a little more useful..

Perhaps some people feel inferior, believing other members to be more popular than them.

Personally I think there is a pecking order everywhere in life.

Peace.

Thats kind of my point. Other people are more interesting, therefore better liked. Everyone is more interesting than me. I feel like when I do post no one cares what I have to say.

Ehh, I can't see it.

I post if find the topic interesting and when I simply feel confident enough to. Admittedly, I look twice if the author is a regular in #spw, because Im there myself now and then.

We can't really tell what's more interesting for people, but I'm pretty sure that the number of replies you get is not related to "being liked" or "not liked" ... like I've said, it's because of the POST and not because of the PERSON.
So don't feel down Bianca. Just look at this Thread you've made, if no one really cares, there would'nt have been any replies. :)

I'm glad you agree, great minds think alike! Thanks for quoting me too.

I post a lot on here because it's pretty much the only place I can vent or understand. Even if no one replies I can get down thoughts from my crazy mind on here. Even better is when users understand you.

Me too :D

There is no social hierarchy here. We only see it because we're used to being at the bottom of it. If you really think someone's more popular here, point some fingers and give some names. If you can't do that, than there's no hierarchy.

I could name some people who are "popular" but I don't want to put anyone on the spot and offend them.

i don't see a hierarchy. i see:

- newbies
- people who rarely post so no one knows who they are
- people who post, take a break from the forums, come back again
- frequent posters
- trolls

it doesn't seem cliquey here at all- which is very refreshing! people here are supportive and open to listening. it is a great online environment. also, so what if people post a lot because they need attention? isn't that the point of this forum- to vent, share ideas, get help?

There is a social hierarchy and/or cliques any time a group of humans get together. Even on the internet. And this place is no exception. It is a lot more apparent in the chat due to its nature mirroring meatspace conversation more closely.

i see an obvious social hierarchy here.. & i can name a few ppl too but i think that would be offensive to them.. & it doesnt mean that i am jealous of them or i hate them..at times i wish i was 1 of them but i guess hierarchies r bound to happen anywhere .. be it work, college, friend circles etc.. some ppl receive more attention than others.. it sucks for me though that a place where i thought i cud meet ppl of my kind is also sometimes in some ways dominated by a few...
& thats y i stopped posting here.. doesnt matter if no1 cares about ur opinion right? ..but maybe i shud start posting again just for the sake of it i guess..i have nothing against the forums or anyone though
