Do you scare people?

I do, people tend to avoid me.

When in public I give off this "stay the f*** away from me vibe". Of course I don't mean it, it's just a barrier I put up to cover my insecurity.

A fellow worker once asked me, "Why do you always look so pissed off". It doesn't matter whether I am enjoying myself or not, I always have the same look on my face. I could be having a good time but will still look like I don't want to be there.

I just seem to make people nervous, they look at me and move away, like they think I'm too much of a freak to be around, or that they think I'm really really rude

I think i give the impression that i am unfriendly most of the times, also when i have my tattoos showing people are afraid of looking at me.

omg, story of my life.
I was standing outside a supermarket waiting for my mum, as we were on our way to a concert type show thing, and i was well chuffed about going, and this old guy in a mobility scooter goes past and says to me "cheer up love, it might never happen" A woman behind the counter in a shop did the same.
wtf! i was happy damn it
Apparently I always look miserable. It's cos i walk around with my arms folded and pretend to be pissed off at things, when really i'm scared. My repellent tactic doesn't work though as people still try to talk to me :(

I've been told I'm intimidating! I certainly don't mean to come across that way - I'm the one who's intimidated!

Oh yeah. Nobody knows what to make of me. People at the bowling alley, which is pretty much the only place I go, know I'm not mean or anything. People say hi when I walk by. I even made a corny rhyme...

I may be a shy guy, but the girls still say hi when I walk by

You know what's so funny :x is that everytime I'm in a public place and I'm surrounded by people, I make this angry facial expression and sometimes I even accidentally frown... which I don't really know exactly why I do that... :? but it might be becuz of the fact that I'm nervous or something..
and so people think that I'm all pissed off.. but in fact I'm just nervous and anxious in the inside..
Sometimes even in school people think I'm all pissed off, and they start to ask me these stupid questions like why am I angry, and I usually just answer, I'm not angry... and they just leave still thinking that I am...
I just dont know how to convince them that I'm not angry....

I can relate to what everyone has said in this thread. At work I am known as being an angry type person cause I always looked pissed off. It's my defensive mechanism to keep people away so I don't have to be involved in the social chit chat which often times I can't contribute anyway.

Oh yea that is exactly why I frown and look angry, it is like my defense mechanism. I do that to make people think that I'm annoyed or bothered to avoid them from talking to me

Hmm.. I always wondered why my brother looked angry all the time. He would always just mugg people for no reason. now I know~ :(

My look and facial expression while stressed out ( most of the time) is a picture of a little devil  . People are scared, I am scared and this anxiety is contagious...

I can't believe some people have the cheek to tell a complete stranger something like that!!

He was old so I let him off. I don't reckon they meant it in a nasty way, but they don't understand how irritating it is, or maybe they did.
Stuff them, I was happy inside

Well I guess so!

Yep I know xactly wot u guys r talkin bout but jus remember its an irrational fear and those people who say those things to you about being angry and all probably say that to most people they come across..

God loves us all..!!heehah

same here..... i didn't realize i wasn't the only one. seems to be common for ppl w SP? I tend to be a serious person when around ppl I'm not close to.. bugs me when someone says "smile!" or "you look mad".
especially when service workers who are supposed to be positive & considerate say "you look tired" or something insulting...
one time i was working out at the college gymn, just doing my thing.. & some young guy says to me "you can smile" or something like that, & I'm just thinking (I'm working out.. who smiles constantly when they are working out?.... or how many ppl smile at strangers that walk past them in a gymn) I do get picked on from strangers sometimes & its just odd to me bc I mind my own business & would never dare to say something like that to someone.

I don't know about scaring people, but I remember when I was at school I'd constantly have people telling me to smile and asking what was wrong, even when I was feeling fine. I just don't smile a lot lol.
