I was just wondering how many people have stoped drinking Caffine because of their SA/SP and if it seemed to help at all. I'm a coke addict but I'm trying to cut it out completely cause I think it adds to my anxiety but I'm wondering if any one else has?
Yes I too am a 'coke' addict, (the cola variety of course) also love my coffee and tea. Cutting out caffiene does seem to help, but I have to get past those withdrawal symptoms first. 8)
I try not to drink alot of caffeine...not for that reason though(I cant tell a difference in my SP when I do or dont drink caffeine)...but I think caffeine makes my kidneys hurt...seems like every time I have it, I hurt... so since then I try not to drink it. I dont drink alot of pop anyway and I hate coffee so it isn't really a problem for me not to drink it...when I do drink pop now, I either drink Sprite or caffeine free Coke/Pepsi.
Its best to lay off the caffine, use only if you need a quick pock me up like before an exam or some major event, because once the caffine and sugar runs out you can crash big time and get pretty tired. Id recommned coffee over soda but they both arnt to healthy for you. And diet coke can make you gain weight faster then the real stuff :x
I gave up caffeine a year ago and I can't say that I really notice a difference in the daytime. The only advantage is that I sleep better at night now that I don't drink the amounts of strong coffee I used to!
As soon as I found out that I had an anxiety prob, I thought, hmmm, maybe I should cut down on the caffeine (abo 3-4 cups a day right now). Its the only drug I take - i rarely even drink! But, I'm so tired from all the anxiety that I can't give up the caffeine (or don't want to)......but, in theory, it makes sense that when you are overly anxious, a stimulant may not be such a great idea.
I stopped drinking pop when I was like 11 or 12 after I realized I was addicted to caffeine, mostly because I just didn't like the idea of being addicted to something, even something as stupid as caffeine. I mostly only drink tea or Gatorade now (I love Gatorade, even though I hate sports. lol).
I don't think stopping drinking caffeine really helped any, though I didn't know about SA until just a couple of years ago.
Hey thanks for your suggestions everybody. I don't know if I can bring my self to stop drinking it completely but I think I'll cut down to a few cans a week. Sometimes I just need some to pick me up. but yeah like other people were saying I'v had heaches before and those are not fun.
I agree so much sugar in cola is a little gross. i'd recommend coffee over all soda definitely: more caffeine and no sugar. i got into it from always going to coffee shops to study.
Nope. I don't drink coffee or tea (mostly because I think they taste disgusting) and I haven't had soda in over a year now. I just always drink water. I didn't stop drinking soda and drinks with caffeine in it for any reason other than the fact that I wanted to try to be healthier though.
I used to drink caffine all the time. I would drink massave amounts of it. but like a little more than a year ago i gave up soda. I've read that caffeine can trigger anxiety in people. and the carbonation was murder on my stomach. so i've been ok, with that aspect. i still hanker for a cold one ever now and then. but now i just drink water, and iced tea.
I love ice coffee. Just very milky coffee - more milk than water with the right amount of sugar to taste and lots and lots of milk and ice. And i like chocolate in coffee and caramel.
