Hey, I'm new here and btw Im a really conscious guy and I really am depressed with one of my facial features and I think that if I go under surgery things would much be better, but then again lol when I think about it, if I do get surgery, everybody I know will think I'm a superficial plastic over-reacting feminine guy. So I'm pretty much screwed. I'm a really androgynous looking guy and I hate it so much. Good luck though, just wanted to share my story lol

I've had plastic surgery to make my breasts the same size. It did nothing for my confidence in the long run. i still think poorly of how i look.

The " boost" does not last ....I highly recommend you to get this book: Amazon.com: Psycho-Cybernetics, A New Way to Get More Living Out of Life (9780671700751): Maxwell Maltz: Books

Maxwell M. the plastic surgeon who wrote this books explains how 95% of his patient who would get plastic surgery would often come back for more or the ones who wanted to get surgery for cosmetic reason really did it for self esteem. He goes on explaining how to change your thinking and how to apply it to your everyday life. Really interesting stuff coming from a surgeon.

Honestly, reading about all the horrors of plastic surgery (plus the fact that you have to keep having little touch-ups on it as time goes by) has turned me off to it. The only cosmetic stuff I would ever really have done to myself is have my acne scars, as well as some extra body hair, lasered off.

BBC News - 'I hated seeing my face in the mirror'

Every now and then, I take a few seconds to look at that picture.

Wow, that's an amazing story.

I have not and will not get plastic surgery (unless something horribly unexpected happens to me at some point). I know people who have and they are either unhappy with the results or still have no confidence. In contrast, you never know if certain traits you have will attract certain people to you. My bf complains sometimes about being too short, and jokingly talks about getting leg-lengthening surgery. But I think he is absolutely the perfect height for me, and that's one of the reasons I was so interested in the first place (yeah, I'm shallow like that.) :)
I can understand why some people do it, and I don't judge them, but I think it's much sexier to be comfortable with who you are, no matter what.

Wow, that's an amazing story.

That guy is awesome. I watched a documentary about him and he has so much passion and enthusiasm about what he does, and just comes across as the kind of person you would really want in your life.

And then I thought about how I've spent £500 on some corrective surgery for something that wasn't even that big a deal, and then I felt stupid. But in my case I am glad I had it done, I have to say.

People have to do what they have to do. I think, if something about your appearance really brings you down, then if you can afford to, change it. But I would hazard a guess that maybe the confidence issue isn't just limited to whatever imperfection you feel you have.

No absolutely not. I'll feed my BDD for a moment and then it'll get worse. Though I wouldn't mind a nose job....

definitely not. it would do me the opposite. i have nothing against plastic surgery, but i do take pride in being 100% natural.

I want to get plastic surgery and have seriously considered it, but there are other things that have to be taken into account such as finding a reliable surgeon, cost, pain, possibility of a botched operation, dissatisfaction with the final result and post-operative complications. I want it but I'm not sure if I'll get it.

There are certain parts I'd like to alter, but I don't think my confidence will rise that much. I may feel more paranoid since society likes to point out, tease and judge those who have plastic surgery.
