I'm just wondering at what speed people like us talk. For Me Personally I talk way way way too fast. It's hard for people to understand me, and I also slur my words a lot. I actually have to try pretty hard and be thinking about my speech to talk at a slower pace.

I think im all of the above. Sometimes I talk really slow cause I cant think fast enough. And other times when I know what I need to say I try to get it out as fast as I can. Then other times im just normal. :)

When I know what I want to say I talk way to fast (I'm from Newfoundland).

But I talk slow most of the time because I'm a "slow talker" apparently.

I noticed how, at work, while talking to customers on the phone, I talk quite fast and I am sometimes asked to repeat myself. On normal conversations, I guess it depends on who I'm talking to and the setting. If I'm sitting down talking to someone without looking them in the eye (just chilling, watching cars drive by and so forth), I talk normally, but if I'm looking them in the eye, I talk fast to make it end faster, I suppose. Also, I suppose I talk fast to hide my teeth. I'm getting braces in ten days, and I hope it'll truly help me be more confident.

I talk really fast and jumbled and retarded because i don't think anyone wants to listen to what i have to say so i try to say it as quick as possible.

I talk really fast and sometimes people will tell me to repeat myself or to slow down. I try to talk slower to certain people but then i just talk fast again. When I'm excited, I talk even faster and at that point, no one can understand me.

Usually I force myself to talk normally, so that people couldn't notice anything wrong with me. I'm very nervous when i'm talking, but i try to hide it in every possible way. Sometimes I talk fast, though.

It depends on the situation. If i am nervous o'r excited fast, calm normally, depressed slow.

I talk too fast a lot of the time, mostly because I'm uncomfortable having people's attention focused on me and I want to get it over with as fast as possible! I also feel like no one's really listening to me anyway, so it doesn't matter whether I speak clearly or not. Sometimes though it's just because my thoughts are going a mile a minute and my mouth can't keep up, lol.

When I'm nervous I also stumble over my words and mispronounce stuff, which is one of the things which embarrasses me the most. I really admire and envy people who can speak calmly and eloquently in public *sigh*

By the way Icarus, my handwriting's really scruffy too, so I try to avoid having to write in front of people

Well I used to talk way to fast so I slowed it down, waaaay down, so now I talk to slow. No one really notices when you usually don't say more then 3 words in a row though

I think I talk a normal speed. It's when I'm reading allowed I talk WAAAY too fast which ends up in me skipping words. Reason being is because I tend to skim over the words wo fast that my brain moves faster than my mouth so I try to keep up in speech. This also doesn't help with the fact that I have a habit of saying things backwards from when they're actually writen. Say a game says "Magic+1" I tend to say "+1Magic" or something like that. x-x I swear I'm dislexic.

I know this wasn't asked for but as far as volume of my voice I talk VERY loudly if I get exited (be it happy or angry). If I'm sad I talk in murmurs so much so you can barely hear me at all if I am saying anything other than just huffing and puffing if I'm annoyed at something like somone else is saying. I tend to want to keep my mouth shut when I'm talking to someone I don't agree with what they're talking about.

I talk too slow, and mess up things like phrasing a lot. Also, when someone asks me something, and I feel like I respond immediately, in many cases this doesn't seem to be the case. There's a delay of which I'm not consciously aware of.

There have even been cases where people just got and said ''Fine, then ignore me then'', while I was getting ready to reply. I think my brain is slow that way, and it's actually a rather big problem for me.

Slowish - the connection between mouth and brain is dial-up. it goes think-think-think-speak. It cuts out at the end sometimes, and I don't know how to finish what I'm saying - this is where "...and stuff" comes in use.Worst case is when people get impatient and finish off your sentences for you.....and stuff.
