Id like to think i manage my S/A fairly well and get by. Some of you also know i suffer from NT's, over which i have no control, and cant really do much to manage.

On top of all that, i have a very frustrating problem that has gotten me in trouble at other jobs in the past. No matter how early i go to sleep, ill sleep good, but alot of the time when 6 am comes around and the alarms start going off, i just get up IN MY SLEEP, turn them all off, and go to bed again. And the whole time im not even awake or aware that im doing it.

I had 2 alarms in my bedroom, across the room from me, 2 more in the kitchen area and 2 more in other parts of the house. They all go off within 5 minutes of eachother, my reasonning being that maybe if im forced to keep getting up and getting up again that ill wake up. No such luck. On tuesday i woke up at 8:30 (im supposed to be at work for 7) and they had all been turned off. gah!!!!

My wife has witnessed me doing this on multiple occasions, and she will also try to wake me up, and she is the most successful. But i dont feel its fair to her, to have to rely on her to be able to do the most basic grownup thing. Im a big boy, i shuold be able to do this on my own. Its damned irritating and i know it can cause problems in the future.

Luckily my current boss also has sleep problems and hes pretty understanding that way, he said he really doesnt care too much unless HIS boss notices, and even so as long as the time is made up theyre usually pretty good about everything. But i dont want to abuse that leniency.

Anyone else go through this?.

Yes I used to have this problem too and it turned out that it was due to my food allergies.Try avoiding gluten, milk and eggs for a week this might solve the issue.

I am sorry dude, that sounds lame!! I wish I could say I know how you feel. I wake up fifteen to twenty minutes before my alarm goes off every day. No matter how early. ::eek::::eek::

I did this too. I starting taking melatonin at night, and not only does it help me sleep, but it helps me wake up in the morning. You will have to have sun light enter the room in the morning though.

Maybe try a song alarm? You body gets used to hearing the same noise over and over. I have lived close to a train track my entire life, and I never hear trains at night. Your body has grown accustom to hearing the alarm, getting up, turning it off, and laying back down. So something has to change.
Also, I jump in the shower as soon as I get up. I have become used to doing this while I am still asleep, but by the end of my shower, I am up and ready to go.

Hope this helps : )

You' re probably a 'night type', I have the same problems, I can go to bed at 1am or 6pm, I'm a complete wreck when I need to get up before 11am, no matter how many hours i slept.

My brother has this problem but he's not out of highschool yet, so he has a couple more years before he discovers how important it is to wake up on time for work/appointments and such...
For now, I suggested that he sets a few alarms in his room. He has his phone alarm that goes off first- beside his head; then an alarm on his desk and another across the room so he actually has to get out of bed to turn them off. Sometimes he still goes back to sleep afterward.

One of the contributing factors is that he has an extremely non-consistent bedtime and sometimes doesn't go to bed until 4-5 in the morning when he has to wake up at 7. But it seems like even if he gets 8-10 hours of sleep, he still has a hard time waking up. It's been that way since he was a toddler. I remember jumping on his bed and screaming and pulling on his eyelids to wake him up! haha

I suppose you could see your doctor and ask for his opinion?
Maybe there is some sort of treatment or diet change you can make to help?

Gerdje, you hit me right on the nosie. Me and my wife are both night owls.

Wierdy: What ive found best is trying to keep a consistent sleep schedule. Im also looking at an alarm clock that goes off once, you hit the snooze, it goes off again but this time it actually skitters around the floor and you have to catch it to turn it off. It sounds goofy, and a little extreme, but im gonna try it , lol.

Also, have an appt with my doctor next week for this. My hunny also found some melatonin tea that im going to start trying tonight as well.

Ill let you guys know how this progresses :).

Every single damn day I can't get out of bed on time. Too tired from extreme long hours at work, its even affecting my vision. Hate the job, hate this life.
